I see a ramp agent position in Charleston, SC, that pays $17 an hour. The average rent for a 1-BR is 2k, the median home price is about 500K for the entire metro area, closer to 800K in the city. How can one expect people to live on these wages, @adrienneb?

Yeah you need to run your numbers again because a 1 bedroom isn't 2k. I see 3 bedrooms that don't even rent for $2k.

Well if you wanna live in the most expensive neighborhoods, have fun. Zillow rentals tells me otherwise. Plenty of places renting for $1500 and under. Charleston and surrounding areas. The airport isn't even in Charleston so nobody says you have to live in Charleston. If $17 is too little, then find another job.
