Hello!! So I am really wanting to become a flight attendant once i turn 21 and i have been researching all of the airlines and how they hire, train and overall experience.
I'm just wondering how southwest does their training more specifically
- where the training takes place
- if its payed training
- if they accommodate travel for people who live far from training facility
- if lodging is accommodated
for after hire do they
- let you choose your base based on where you live
I know you can bid as you progress up in your seniority but I wouldn't have the funds to move to different state if I was hired but was assigned to a base in a different state. I haven't even moved out of my parents house. Being a flight attendant is a dream job with the traveling, the benefits, meeting new people, and serving the community and keeping them safe on the flight.
Thank you!!!
Anastasia!!
@adrienneb thank you in advanced for responding! just doing some early research
oh also is their specific preferences for your candidates?? like hair, tattoos, personality, etc.
sorry for so many questions!

Visible tattoos is an instant denial.
And for piercings they have to be clean and not too big for ears only. I was told no other piercings.
You are usually based out of the one you applied at/nearest
I wish I can provide more but this is what I was told by other flight attendants
