Bill-
Please stop changing our N/S flights to seasonal and then cutting in favor of connections in Denver and Baltimore. What reason is there for our city to be the only one in the network to lose permanently two nonstop routes in this schedule(particularly ones that have been around for a very long time)?

Really wish that you would stop the trend of turning BNA markets to seasonal and/or cutting them. Yes, you have added new flights to the panhandle, STL, and SC(which is appreciated!), but the demise at the same time of ISP, MHT, PVD, BDL, OAK, and ONT is saddening. You can't dispute that Nashville has grown rather than shrunk over the years so why longstanding routes would go away doesn't make sense to me. Like your airline alot and hope that the Airtran merger reverses this trend.

Gary Kelly-
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE consider keeping XM and making it a part of the new Southwest. It is the one thing I've always envied about AirTran that we don't have out of BNA b/c they don't fly here. That would truly be fantastic! I don't care about the business class or assigned seating, but just please keep the XM! You would solidify a wandering customer into always flying SWA if you did. It's even offered free right now on AirTran in typical SW no fee style. Thanks.

As long as Nashville stays constant or grows then this is terrific. However, if SW screws Nashville during the integration and makes getting everywhere a layover h3ll, I will never fly this airline again. No way am I connecting in that dump known as ATL. It's either going to remain a lot of nonstop destinations or I'm finding someone with perks to make the layover trip easier.

Also, BNA-MSP, IND, CVG, PIT would make for some good florida feeders. We would be a straighter shot for them than Baltimore.

First....THANK YOU for RSW!!! It has been a blessing to connect to in MCO rather than ATL for the last few years but nonstop is a godsend and that is an annual trip. Then I'd like to request BNA-ATL, CLT, BOS. Also, will Oakland and Seattle be back next summer?

Southwest sucks for backing out of flying to Canada. I'll be dead by the time you guys finally fly to Charlotte, NC or Atlanta and my great grand children will probably be dead by the time anyone can leave the country or even go to Hawaii via your airline. People are sick and tired of waiting for Southwest to grow up!

"Network Planning"? Way to become an arrogant hub and spoke carrier with the smallest network, least in-flight amenities(charge for or not), and only airline not to have international connections(note WestJet is canning you for SkyTeam) in the United States. Soooo....UNIMPRESSIVE! And with all of this new seasonal flying are you trying to usurp the legacies or Sun Country(even they have service to London coming with a 737....why didn't SW think about that?!?!?!?!). I used to be excited about this airline but now you're just low fares, low frills, low network, low everything and seem to have no motivation to do anything about except continue down the path of becoming Denver's new hometown regional airline. Every new schedule is delays on anything new, new downgrading from year round to seasonal service, and new routes from Denver and I'm bored with it and apparently so is WestJet.

This policy is disgusting to me. How dare you humiliate a person simply due to their size? I'm proud of Kevin for calling foul on this, Southwest you are pathetic and with any luck, you will lose a TON of money from being disrespectful and callous to the customers that pay your bills. I will NEVER fly Southwest as long as I live.

These comments make me sick. Look at all the vitriol that is being spewed towards the "people of size". Only in America is it still okay to discriminate against the "people of size". I read one statement that said in summation that "fat people should stay home, lose weight, then join the human race". WTF? So now these "people of size" are no longer human? Do you see the BS your discrimination is causing Southwest? Your company should be ashamed. Who gives a flying f*** how long your policy has been in place? You know what that means? It means your policy is WAY outdated. Get with the times. If you are going to arbitrarily charge "people of size" a second seat, then you need to charge others as well. The "person of smell" needs an extra seat. It's not comfortable sitting next to a person who reeks of body odor, cigarettes, aftershave, cologne, or perfume. It's also a safety issue. The stench can make you tear up and not be able to exit the plane in case of emergency. You need to charge "people of age" for a second seat. It's not comfortable sitting next to an old person, because their canes get in the way. Do you think a "person of age" could get off the plane quickly in an emergency? BTW, how does a second seat suddenly make a "person of size" able to get off the plane quicker? In your ancient way of thinking, wouldn't they still be fat and slow? It's amazing how that extra cash, makes everything go away. Southwest, just admit you are gouging the "person of size" because there are no laws prohibiting it. You can't pull this on blacks, gays, Jews, or handicapped people because there are laws. Unfortunately in this country the "person of size" is the last group for which it is still okay to ridicule, humiliate, and discriminate against. Read some of these comments, you'll see what I mean. Southwest, farewell. I am through using your company for anything, until you change your discriminatory practices.

Another half-assed apology with the subtle hint that Kevin couldn't fit into the seat. He had both armrests down, Southwest Airlines! Way to make a huge issue out of absolutely nothing.
I won't ever fly Southwest Airlines. F--- Southwest Airlines. F--- them up their stupid asses.

I second SDF-BNA(a long time city with BNA air service even before its last bout with American as part of their hub-see departedflights.com if you don't believe me) from the Nashville side and BNA-PIT & IND would be nice too. Hopefully someday you'll FINALLY go to Charlotte and Atlanta too which I'd hope you'd serve from Nashville. I submitted another comment which was actually positive last night and you seem to have rejected it. Why is that???

To Bill "Was really hoping for a direct flight from Chicago to Panama City Beach. Very disappointing!"
Check the schedule for ECP. There are actually TWO direct flights from MDW to ECP almost every day! Direct means one or more stops and both flights from MDW to ECP make a brief stop in BNA. Direct is different from nonstop, which of course, means no stops.

Have to admit I was worried about this service surviving from Nashville alone even though there is a disproportionate market for it but now that I know we're in it with Chicago I feel much more confident. Together we can support it and because it stops at BNA people between MDW and BNA can have a much straighter flight path with a connection than they would have had it just been MDW nonstop. Smart move Southwest!

Are BNA-SEA and BNA-OAK seasonal reductions again this time when they go away or are they permanent this time?? Since you're so on again, off again with these particular routes lately I don't know what to expect with them anymore. If they are seasonal, what are their seasons so I can be a little more predictable in my booking habits? Also, if they are seasonal do you continue to offer same plane service when they are away or do we have to make connections? If you could answer some or all of these things for me I would really appreciate it. Sorry for nudging an old thread but this is the only way I know post a question to you. Keep up the good work and thanks for St. Louis and Panama City!
P.S.: Is Ontario seasonal as well or is it just gone and how about same plane service on that route? I travel alot 🙂

Why don't you serve BNA-IND?!?!?!?! That is a huge gaping hole in your network from here and once AA's STL hub closes and DL finishes off CVG I will either have to go up to Chicago and back or out to Kansas City and back to get there which is insane. We had service to IND for years before US dropped it last(because their hub closed not because we were a bad market) and it is a no brainer for Nashville. It is also time to start to looking at how to serve CVG(maybe Terminal 1 or 2) and prepare to fill the hole there that Delta is getting ready to leave. That hub is basically the only way that Nashvillians can get to the majority of Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky without driving or flying so far out of our way that the drive is faster. What is this? The 40's? We can't even get on a train. I think a city that could fill the coach cabin of AA's 767 London-Gatwick flight can at least serve up one daily 737 flight to Indianapolis. That would be a business traveler heaven if you would ever jump in there. Atlanta & Charlotte would be too but we'll hit on that one later.

Republic is having financial problems and is expected to sell Frontier soon and Southwest Airlines will be Denver's savior. The writing was on the wall before Frontier was bought by Republic. Gary Kelly and his team know, or I should say knew, exactly what they were doing.

This couldn't be farther from the truth. Frontier's integration is going fine and they continue to have good financial results even after emerging from bankruptcy. Please stop making such bitter statements and hurling out erroneous facts in an effort to cut down other carriers to make yours look better. Southwest needs to succeed in Denver on its own two feet and shouldn't have to put down or put out of business Frontier or United(Which are fine companies by the way who are the only ones of the three making money) to do that. Win the customers because they look at you without any arm twisting on your part and decide that they want to fly you. Also realize that one of the three airlines doesn't have to disappear for that to happen.

Let's definitely get ATL and CLT on the route map but don't just serve them from Denver. They've had enough. Let's spread the wealth a little more. DEN is starting to get a little cocky. It's time to let them cool off for a little while and heat up more in some of your other markets.

Thanks for BNA-STL and I'm excited about the rumor amongst the local news in Florida that Nashville is one of the PFN cities. That's a huge vacation spot for people here. I can't say that of any other city and the 9 hour drive is MISERABLE so I'm glad you guys are going to take care of it. However, I don't care for the term "Redneck Riviera" or the people who use it. I've actually never heard that before. It's nice to see some BNA growth again. Let's try to keep it up. I'd really like to see Atlanta, Charlotte, or Indianapolis from Nashville. I particularly love Charlotte so I hope it comes first. As far as Atlanta goes we just REALLY need an alternative to Delta and their horrific ASA affiliate(If you're evening return flight is with them on a day trip then you may as well go ahead and rent a car to come back because they'll probably cancel your flight) and we don't have AirTran. Thanks again and keep up the good work 🙂

If a flight was unprofitable then why would you hold on to it for 8 or 10 years? Why not cut it sooner? Most airlines will cut a flight in a year or two if it isn't working out. This begs the question as to whether they are really unprofitable or if you're just in need of the plane to operate a more prestigious route elsewhere from one of your top ten cities. Several routes like that in your network have been axed recently after seemingly long profitable stints. See why some people might be confused? Maybe you could shed some light on that for everybody at some point.

Thanks for the cheap shot example. We're familiar with your service too. After, all you bailed on making us a major city in your network when AA announced their hub before Herb could get to Mayor Fulton's office in the 80's and then when it finally closed you only stepped in to provide service to 28 of their 88 cities of their 87 of their 234 flights a day and proceeded to turn right back around and start cutting so that you haven't had a year over flight increase in Nashville in 9 years, have cut 6 cities, and in May will be back down to 72 flights a day. Not to mention all the other stuff I already mentioned above about your ground presence. You may not be doing what AA did to us here exactly but you're most definitely doing to us in the same slow fashion what they've been doing in St. Louis before finally doing the big whammy a few weeks ago. And that's basically the same thing they did to us, just slower. It also doesn't make it OK that you never got as big as the AA hub before you started cutting because it still has the same impact and you've given us no signs through adding to other places while you cut the six to show us that you aren't doing just exactly the kind of downsizing that I think you are. Prove me wrong. Show me that we're still an important market that you see as a growth opportunity and not just one that you're slowly priming for less nonstops. I think you're mistaken if you think we keep flying you on routes where you lose the nonstop advantage and others can assign seats, etc. That's all I'm going to say about this. You guys get the message whether you acknowledge it or not and I know I'm not the only one who feels this way because I've seen and heard it here and elsewhere. I'll be winging my way to Ontario on American from now on.

You guys are no better than American Airlines in Nashville. You've been cutting back since 2001 at rate that you haven't at all made up for BS'ing us all along way about how you're not really doing anything negative in Nashville. And now here you go making more frequency cuts, not bringing back the west coast service you've already axed, killing another city, not picking up the St. Louis slack which Nashville has supported consistently since before you even existed, and turning a blind eye to any and all other viable expansion at BNA or within the southeast. We've grown tremendously since you've first started serving us, have new headquarters, an O&D count that is now as high as what American had generated with connecting passengers, and all you've done for the last 9 years is cut and let your ticket agents talk about how we are only a real airport when we have sporting events or fan fair. What a load of crap. You don't even update all your gates with the new seating and the last time I flew the cheap basic seating rocked back and forth because you didn't bolt it down to floor. If you just want to wear the glory badge in the big cities and be their airline then please just go ahead and get out of here already so we can bring back in people like AirTran and Jetblue who have better planes and more perks anyway and maybe regain mainline with CO and UA. You guys don't know Nashville any better than the new DL management knows CVG. I'll do everything from here on out to avoid you and gain status with someone else which thankfully shouldn't be that hard. I don't like companies who are insincere or status quo in their commitments to my community.

You didn't answer any comments on this post after your first reply including the one asking why you didn't actually show us all of your changes this time until somebody jerked your chain really good and even then you didn't answer anything but that one comment. And rarely do any customer requests or feedback(like maps of your terminals which is one I remember in particular, not just route suggestions-although you are about 6 years overdue in Charlotte, Atlanta, CVG, a few other places) ever really get taken seriously. Ultimately you guys do what you want and ignore what a good share of us think about it. And no I'm not just here to bash. Southwest is becoming less rigid in some ways but is more rigid than ever in others. Why not be like AirTran and just go for it. They're doing just fine. Some of you guys' inhibitions are just a matter of being hard nosed at this point more than anything else. Most carriers now have either a Twitter or a blog by the way. That's not to belittle them because it is a great idea(Not sure if you've heard the story of a Virgin America pax Twittering a complaint on a transcon and being met at the gate by customer service in Boston to help him resolve it) but you're not the only ones anymore and it shouldn't be "amazing" to listen to your customers and take them seriously but rather a default mechanism.
