I was waiting to board my flight when i over heard one of the gate agents call for a missing passenger. The passenger was checked in for the flight but had failed to board. She then said "will Sam smith please report to the gate so you can wave to your missed flight." One announcer informed us that our aircraft was running late and if we were satisfied with his excuse his name was John and he worked for Southwest, but if we were upset with the late arrival his name was Juan and he worked for US AIRWAYS.

Thanks for the warm wishes. Happy New Year!!!! I worked yesterday on the ship and right at midnight we had fireworks go off here in San Diego bay. It was a sight to see. Meanwhile my mom called to say ABQ is still snowed in. Sometimes I count my blessings to be in San Diego. So here is to a new year for all of us... Go Chargers!!!! (I hope that does not offend anyone)

HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS!!!
Well I made it home to New Mexico and I have had the best time. Here is how Southwest made a difference in my journey home. Our ship the USS Nimitz pulled into San Diego a day early. As soon as our ship pulled in I would be on Christmas leave. I called Southwest and they said all of the flights to Albuquerque were booked that day but i could still go to the airport and try standby. My original reservation was for Friday night. I did not want to stay an extra day in San Diego so I headed to the airport were the holiday season was in full swing. The line to check in at Southwest was out the door, yet it kept on moving. I got to the ticket counter and i told them of my situation. They put me on standby. I went to try my luck for the 12:25 non-stop flight to ABQ. The gate agent MRS. Delgado was overly helpful and friendly. She was a true angel. Some people did not show up for that flight and I was put on the flight home. I suprised my parents who started crying when they recieved the call from me. It turns out that they were going to suprise me at the gate the next day, it looks like i beat them to the punch. I recieved a phone call from Bernadine R. Trudeau who worked as a customer service supervisor for Southwest. She said she had a bunch of gifts for me in honor of my service to our great country. I was humbled and honored to recieve the gifts from Southwest. You guys are the reason i am able to get home and see my loved ones. You and my parents made my Christmas extra special. From the crew in San Diego to the inflight crews, to the crew in ABQ, you all deserve the very best this holiday season. Thanks for making my time home with my family extra special. God bless.

Jenny and Kim,
This underway we hit some pretty rough waters. So to answer your question people have fallen off while they were running. Our gym is located in the forward part of the ship so you can feel the rocking. It is a funny sight when you are running and then all of a sudden everyone loses their balance all at once. I am used to the movement by now. This time tomorrow I will be back home.. I cannot wait. "Luv in the air" would be a good song to use in a Southwest commerical. I will be sure to say hello to my flight crew tomorrow, i know it must be hard not to be home for the holidays, especially if you have to work.

Thanks for your kind words, and yes i am going to be eating a lot. I ran 65 miles while we were out to sea, so my body is in need of rest and my moms good cooking. We just got new treadmills for our gym!!! The crew is doing well, except for the fact that everyone is dying to come home. Talk to you guys soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will be flying out from San Diego this Thursday, I cannot wait to see my second family.

Tamra, thanks for your kind words. I often think about all of the children, husbands and wives, who are without their loved ones. Our familes back home play such an important role while we are away. I know my parents were my backbone while I was overseas. I hope you have a nice Thanksgiving.

This posting also made me realize how much I take for granted. This is why America has grown to love Southwest because of their ability to reach out to our local communties and serve. There is no price tag on a smile.

I was sound asleep in my college dorm room, when I recieved a phone call from a friend. She said start praying, America is under attack. I flipped on the TV, at that moment the second plane crashed into the second tower. This was such a hard day for all of America. I often think of all those that lost their lives, and all of those children who will never see their parents again. I have since joined the military and through the hardest days I always look at way I am serving. God Bless

What sets Southwest apart from the rest is its employees. I had a minor complaint about a recent flight that I took, I received two letters in the mail, one from Mr.Lusk, and one from Colleen. To me the minor complaint was not a big deal, yet they went above and beyond to address the issue. I will continue to fly Southwest because of its people. I will be heading overseas soon, and I look forward to jumping on a Southwest flight after my deployment.

This only serves as a reminder that we are at war and that evil people want us to live in fear. I remember boarding a Southwest flights days after September 11th, when the skies finally opened up again. On one of the flight attendants uniform shirt she had a sticker that said "KEEP AMERICA FLYING." This rings true today.. We must carry on with our daily lives...

I have noticed that San Diego has a lot of weather delays. I took a flight back in March and the fog just rolled in out of no were. It also doesn't help that San Diego has just one runway. Such is life....

I was deployed last year in the persian Gulf in support of "OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM." One hot day in June I recieved a birthday card from Southwest Airlines. This simple act contributed so much to my morale, and reminded me of home. It is such an honor to serve our country, I admire all the troops that are on the gound, and to the sailors who are securing the oceans, and to the familes who have to endure such long deployments. Thank you Southwest for not forgetting us!!!

My oh My!!! The responses continue. Come on folks we must think outside the box. If assigned seating saves the company some
money and attracts more customers, that means yeah.. you guessed it lower fares and even more flights. It would be nice to keep
open
seating, but we all must be open minded. Lets do what is best for Southwest. I will be flying from San Diego to ABQ in July,
hopefully i can be apart of the fun....

This is a tough one. The one problem that i have with open seating is when i arrive at the airport an hour and a half earl, get
checked in within ten minutes, head to the gate there is already a line of people in all sections. So to get a good seat I have to
wait in the line for over an hour. If you did assigned seating you could board just like you did in the past. The first group of thirty.
I am flying home in July from San Diego to ABQ, so hopefully i can see how it would work. I wish you guys the best of luck.

Colleen and Company,
Southwest Airlines is a national icon. Southwest has given me the abiltity to fly home to see my family while serving in the
United States Navy. Your cheap fares and top notch employees will keep me coming back for another 35 years. I just recieved a
birthday card from you guys in the mail. Thanks for what you guys do. I hope to see you real soon.

On a recent flight the flight attendants said "can we have your attention, or pretend to have
your attention. In case you are displeased with our service there are six exits aboard
this aircraft...
