WAY TO GO SOUTHWEST!!! ANOTHER REASON WHY I WILL KEEP ON FLYING SOUTHWEST.. THEY LISTEN TO THEIR CUSTOMERS AND TO THEIR EMPLOYEES!!!! I WAS GETTING TIRED OF ARRIVING AT THE AIRPORT EXTRA EARLY JUST TO WAIT IN LINE TO BOARD.. I THINK THIS IS GOING TO BE A POSITIVE CHANGE... THANKS FOR LISTENING AND THANKS FOR KEEPING YOUR OPEN SEATING POLICY...

WHERE ARE ALL OF THESE NEGATIVE COMMENTS COMING FROM?? SOUTHWEST HAS ALWAYS BEEN KNOWN FOR ITS HUMOR AND FOR PUTTING ITS CUSTOMERS FIRST. WHAT IS WRONG WITH OUR SOCIETY. I E-MAILED ALL OF THE TALK SHOWS AND MY LOCAL NEWSPAPER ABOUT HOW SOUTHWEST HAS DONE A LOT FOR THE TROOPS. THEY SENT ME CARE PACKAGES, MAILED ME A BIRTHDAY CARD, MAILED PHONE CARDS TO OUR TROOPS OVERSEAS... YET YOU GUYS WANT TO SIDE WITH A HOOTERS GIRL... THAT MAKES A LOT OF SENSE... THOSE THAT CLAIM THEY HAVE CHANGED TO A DIFFERENT AIRLINE...ALL I CAN SAY IS WHEN YOU GUYS GO BROKE FROM PAYING HIGHER FARES.. REMEMBER HOW MUCH MONEY YOU COULD HAVE SAVED AT SOUTHWEST.. THEY TRULY CARE FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS..

LET'S ALL DEFEND SOMEONE WITH THE BRAINS THE SIZE OF MY PINKY AND WHOSE ONLY HOPE IN LIFE IS TO WORK AT HOOTERS AND MODEL FOR PLAYBOY. WHAT A REAL WINNER.. I RATHER DEFEND AN AIRLINE WHO CHARGES LOW FARES, WHO HAS SUPPORTED OUR TROOPS AND OUR COMMUNITIES AND WHO HAS GIVEN AMERICANS THE FREEDOM TO FLY SINCE THE '70'S

I am stationed on the USS NIMITZ and right now we are deployed overseas. The reason for this e-mail is because I wanted to talk to you about Southwest Airlines. I have been reading all of the negative press about them in regards to that young lady who was forced to change because of her clothes. If you go to blogsouthwest.com you can read all of the negative comments about the situation. I wanted to take the time to share what Southwest Airlines has done for me. Last summer I missed by connecting flight back to San Diego. I was told by the airline that I would make my connecting flight only to miss it. No big deal. I wrote in and explained the situation. I received a letter from their President thanking me for my service to our country. She went out of her way when she really didnÃ

The morals of our country are obviously backwards. For the people defending what she was wearing you obviously do not have class. You are blaming Southwest for asking her to change.. she still made the flight and the flight attendant did not tell her in front of everyone.... A month later she wants to make a big deal about it... can we say MONEY!!!! Perhaps instead the media should be focusing on Southwest Airlines and its 35 plus years of putting customers first.. Southwest has done a lot for our communities, our country, our troops and countless charities.. yet we are focused on a woman who was half dressed and giving her credit? Give me a break... For all those who condone what she has done you should be ashamed of yourselves.

How exciting... a season of change.. I think it is a great idea. I usually get to the airport an hour and a half before my departure and there is already a line. I think we should all give Southwest a chance to see if it works.
To the customer with the complaint above...
While i wasn't on your flight i can say that i have been flying Southwest since I was 9 years old and my family and I have always been treated well. Southwest is ranked high when it comes to customer satisfaction. You should consider staying with them. Low fares, a lot of flight options and the friendliest employees. I often have to remember that employees are humans to and somedays they have bad days. This doesn't excuse unfriendly behavior but it does allow me to walk in the employees shoes for a second. hope you would reconsider your position...

Charles you laid down your life so others may have a chance at freedom. You raised your right hand so that we in America could continue to live in freedom. You defended our country with honor, with courage and with commitment. You are a true American hero. You are someone that we should all look up to as a role model. My prayers go out to his family and to all those who knew him. I am truly sorry for your loss.
MAY HE REST IN PEACE

What a touching story. While other airlines may be known for their inflight TV, Southwest will always be known for having employees with huge hearts. Thank you for continuing to support the military and their families.

Colleen,
Thanks for all that you do. Southwest continues to thrive because of you and your fellow employees. I always equate the golden rule with Southwest because you guys truly treat others the way you would want to be treated. You guys have done so much for those of us serving in our military and we are forever grateful. You are a true leader in that you put others before yourself. 16hour days seven days a week..... what a labor of love and i thought i had a rough schedule. take care .....

Captain Ray,
Thanks for giving us an insight into your stressful world. I remember my dad and i used to go the airport to watch the planes land and take off. we used to stand in amazement. thanks for the job that you do... i don't know how you guys do it but you guys do a good job.... right now our pilots are kicking butt and flying long missions. what gets me is that after a long day of flying they still can land on a moving ship with such ease.

Thanks for your comments. As i write this we are experiencing calm waters, clear skies and well yeah triple digit heat. We are all used to it by now.. Our visit to India had a positive impact on many of us. I think we as a country should make it a goal to rid the world of poverty and help those that are less fortunate. hope all is well back home in the good ole' USA.. See you soon..

BATHROOM COMMENT:
i usually use the restroom before i wait in line and if by chance i need the restroom again during the flight i simply get up and head to one of the restrooms on the plane. Unless the seatbelt sign is on, the flight attendants usually allow their passengers to use the restroom....

James,
thanks for those travel tips. This doesn't have to do with inflight but with the boarding process. I noticed that a lot of passengers will get in the "A" line drop off all of their carryon lugguage and then leave to go sit down. They do this so they obviously won't have to wait in line. i actually think its quite funny, especially because we are all riding in the same plane that is going to the same destination. people start forming a line an hour before the plane gets to the gate. i urge my fellow fliers... sit back and relax. i think we tend to try to rush ourselves. flying should be a relaxing experience, especially on Southwest.

It is no wonder why Southwest continues to be one of the most admired companies in America. I feel for our veterans that came back from war and many Americans turned their backs on them. These guys are the heros of our time. Thanks for supporting the troops... can't wait to see you guys...
GOD BLESS AMERICA..

Happy fourth of July to my friends at Southwest. As i write this i am in a poverty striken land. There are little children running around with no shoes, there are people dying on the streets. I think about all that we have in our country and how much i take for granted. Happy fouth to everyone back home.. see you soon....

HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY....
While i cannot tell you by exact plans (I WILL IN FUTURE POSTS) i will be celebrating the fourth in a very special way. Last year we were in port San Diego and we opened up our flight deck to family and friends. we all watched the fireworks in San Diego Bay and Sea world. This year even though we are deployed the fourth of July means more to me than years past. Hopefully one day this region of the world can live in total freedom and celebrate their freedoms just like we do..

YES TO ASSIGNED SEATING!!! YES TO CHANGE!!!
Not everyone is going to be happy with change. But sometimes change is necessary. While have always enjoyed your open seating policy, if changing it brings in more revenue than by all means change it. To one of the writers.. I disagree with your statement.. "don't forget who made you profitable." I would have to say its Southwest Airlines employees who have made this company profitable and what it is today. Customers keep coming back because their employees offer the best customer service in the industry. Also Mr. Kelly said that he was going to enhance the rapid reward program. Enhance meaning.. they are going to make it better. Southwest has always looked out for their customers. lets give it a chance to work....

Nice pictures... I promised myself i would never go back to Chicago.. I lot of bad memories.......... MY BOOT CAMP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WINTER, MARCHING IN THE BLIZZARDS, HAVING THE FLU IN BOOT CAMP.. After i graduated bootcamp my parents came up and we took a tour of Chicago. There is this pizza place right across from the sears tower... i am not sure what the place was called but it had the best pizza.. so besides boot camp and not being able to see the outside world for two months i am sure chicago is a nice place...
