I thought of another one. When my older sister flew the first time (she went with some friends a long time ago to DAL, I think), it was a bumpy flight, or at least somewhat. When they arrived, my sister said that wasn't such a bad flight! Ha! Maybe not for her, but I don't know about the others.
Ha! I was wrong on the time from my post above about the men who missed their flight out of TUL; I should have said 6:50 a.m., not 7:50.
Has anyone run into someone they know at the airport at home, out of state, or even out of the country? I'm just curious. When my parents & I were coming back from Israel, I saw one of my now former high school teachers & her now late husband at the airport in JFK! The two of them were on the last two flights back with us-out of JFK & STL. It was weird, because I'd been talking about her on the flight back to the states! :)
P.S. Ming, I'm a life-long Oklahoman, too! I didn't graduate from OU, though; I did from TCC & East Central University in Ada. 🙂

Last July, I went to DAL for my GI for Flight Attendant position. I, as always, checked in very early. When I arrived at the gate (in TUL), there was another flight boarding. After everyone got on, the CSA paged for two Customers who hadn't shown up yet. Shortly after that, a man arrived; the plane hadn't backed out yet, but I believe the jetway door was closed. He said, "I thought it was 7:50." & the CSA said "It is." He started to get upset & wondered why he hadn't been paged. She said she did (I heard it!), & was able to get him on another flight. The second paged Customer showed up during that time, too. I don't know why these two men were late, but hopefully from now on, they'll allow themselves more than enought time! :)
Another time, six years ago, my parents & I were on our way home from Europe & had to change & go through customs at DFW. Our flight from DFW to TUL was delayed because of storms in other parts of the state. When we finally boarded, we taxied to the runway & had to sit for a while. The man I sat next to said he was tired of being on a plane; I don't know if he'd been flying a lot lately or what. I asked him where he was coming from, & he said AUS. I thought to myself, "That's nothing! My parents & I spent 10 hours & 45 minutes nonstop on a flight. " Instead, I said we were coming back from Europe. I don't remember if I said how long we'd been on a plane, but I know I didn't tell him exactly where we came from-we were returning from Frankfurt.
Oh, I have another one! When I was in 5th grade, my parents, older sister, & I flew to PHL for Thanksgiving (too bad SWA didn't have service there then-we flew TWA & Eastern); on the way home, we were landing in MCI (or maybe it was TUL-I forgot) & we hit a bump on the runway. A kid was sitting several rows behind my sister & me, & he said, "Woah!" She & I just started cracking up! 🙂

I made this up in my hotel room Thursday night in CMH: Why do Southwest employees not like to stay at Hampton Inn? Because they offer Continental breakfast, not Southwest! Oh, that is so dorky it's funny! By the way, I just picked that hotel name out of the air. Get it? I picked it out of the air. Ha, ha.

I got home a four & a half hours ago from CMH, after attending my second CSA interview on Friday, the 3rd. I changed planes at MDW again & noticed Sears Tower when coming in to land & after take off on my way to CMH Thursday. I didn't see it again today, so I must have been sitting on the wrong side of the plane! That's okay.

I really don't want to post this, but I said I'd let you all know when I heard about training. I received my letter Monday, the 11th, & unfortunately was not picked again this time; it's the second time I've not been invited back for training. I've shed some tears, & I'm not done yet! 😞 I really felt like it was going to happen this time; I'm not going to lie & say I wasn't scared before the interview, but I felt better about it.

Thanks for the update, Pamela! If you feel comfortable letting us know when you hear, please do! You sound like I do! Who knows, maybe we'll work together some time!
I checked my mail three times Wednesday! I really did! I won't check it that often again in one day. I asked the FA who interviewed me if I'd hear by phone or mail, & she said probably by mail. I'm assuming again that if it's a while before I hear, it's good.

I was in the car & had had just turned on the radio when I heard. I was on my way to school (college). I had only two classes that day, & I went to the morning one; the early afternoon class was cancelled & the school closed for the rest of the day. I watched the news later.

Wow, Pam! At my GI, there were 40 (or close to that), too! They called back 20 that day, I believe, & did five one-on-ones. The remaining 15 came back in August. This is my second time to go through the interviews (GI & one-on-one), too! I'll pray for you. You sound like I do-I really want to fly! I'm looking forward to working with different Crew & Customers everyday, & the challenges, too! I will never be bored as a flight attendant! When I hear from my second interview, I'll post it on here.

Hi, PLM. No, I don't know anything about the "poolie" website? Do you? I wish I did!
I called People Dept. this afternoon to remind them when I interviewed & for what position & to let them know I'm still interested. The lady said they have to do my background check & they'll get in contact with me. I know if I'm recommended from the one-on-one, they do a background check next, then the drug screening. I don't know if the lady I talked to knows if I made it through (I of course told her my name), but I'm thinking I have (hopefully!!) since it's been two weeks & I've obviously not heard anything.

Ha, ha Kim! Thanks! 🙂 I wish it were two weeks ago today, because I was at my hotel in DAL, getting ready for bed & eagerly (but also nervously) awaiting the next day! When the FA interviewed me, she said things like "Great!" & "Good!" after almost every answer I gave! I don't know if that means something or not.
If I don't hear anything tomorrow, I plan to call Thursday (or maybe Friday) to remind them & let them know I'm still very interested! I've been thinking since I've not yet heard that it's a good sign, but I'm scared to get my hopes up! I have a feeling something interesting will happen this week, but I don't know if I'm saying that because I really do, or if it's just wishful thinking. Seven years ago when I didn't get asked back for training, I heard one week & one day later. I knew it was bad. :(
Go, Sooners! I went to & graduated from a different college (actually two-I have an AA & a BA) but I have a cousin who graduated from OU.

Hi, Randy. Thanks for the information. That helps! I live in TUL, so maybe if I overnight here, I can stay with my parents. I have family (a sister, brother-in-law, 3 nieces, & a nephew) in AUS. I bet if I ever overnight there, my nieces & nephew-once he's older-might want to stay with me! That's a great idea about the phone number, too; I'll do that.

I thought of another question. If FAs have a layover in a city where they have family, can they stay overnight with them? I'm just curious. I don't mind staying in a hotel (not that I wouldn't want to stay with family); I just wanted to ask!

Oh, Francisco, it's certainly not hard to be myself! 🙂 I have a joke I might tell when I'm an FA. Here it is: Where does a newly theme painted Southwest plane go to show off? Answer: The runway! Ha, ha! I thought of that myself.
I have a question I just thought of & don't know why I didn't think of it during my one-on-one. Anyway, when I become an FA & begin getting to know the ones I work with, if I have any that I want to work with again, can I request that? That may be a strange question & I don't want to play favorites, but I'm just curious, just like George. Get it? Ha, ha. It will be fun working with & getting to know different crew members & Customers!

I thought of something else. I want to remind people to get the names of those interviewing you (I went ahead & wrote them down, too) & send thank you notes afterwards. I sent thank you notes to the Recruiters from my GI & to the Recruiter & FA from my second interview; all four got their own. :)
Okay, I'm done with my advice for now! *Does the sign for finished!* 🙂

Hi, Carole! This is a wonderful article! 🙂 I just had my second interview last Wednesday; in fact, this time last week, I was in the taxi on my way from the hotel to HDQ! I wish it were last week! I'm, of course, now in the process of waiting; it's certainly not easy! I first heard it would be a couple of weeks afterwards that I would know something, but then was told at the interview it would be four to six weeks. Sometimes, I think about some of my answers & think, "Oh, I wish I'd also said that, too!" Grrrrrr!
This was my second time to have interviews. I tried seven years ago & had a GI & one-on-one; unfortunately, I was not invited back for training. 😞 I feel like it will happen this time! If (I emphasize that word) it doesn't happen this time, I will try to be a CSA or an RSA first; then, after at least two years, I'll try again to be an FA.
I really feel like I have the right qualities to be a flight attendant for SW. I'm very outgoing, enthusiastic, & personable (when flying alone, I like to visit with passengers sitting next to me), I LUV to help, I'm flexible, & I LUV to have fun! I also have a lot of determination.
Maybe we'll work together someday, Carole & James!
Southwest LUV, everyone!
:)

I had my second interview yesterday, & I feel it went well. Hopefully, the Recruiter & FA who interviewed me think so, too! It will be 4-6 weeks before I hear about training! I'm still scared waiting to hear. I had fun, & of course, I had fun on the flights, as always!

I'd LUV to take a tour! I saw a little bit when I was there for my group interview (GI) last month, & I heard that during FA training, I get to go on a tour.
This reminds me. A flight attendant who sent a referral letter for me also sent pictures (of which I got doubles, as always, so I have some for myself!) of me I mailed to her back in late March or early April this year. Two of them are of me with flight attendants, & another is of me holding up bags of peanuts. She mailed them to HDQ; I'm just curious if anybody knows what was done with the pictures. 🙂 My prints are in my special SWA pictures (photo) album.

Ha, ha! Thanks, Adam. I love to be funny & I'm certainly very outgoing! I'm serious when it's time to be, though. I figured I might be asked about a time when I've gone above & beyond the call of duty again. One FA said they'll ask what kind of animal I want to be. I said, "A dog!",& he told me I have to say why. I'm ready if they ask me, & I hope I am asked that question. Oh, wow, I'm seriously starting to get scared now; I won't let those interviewing see that! I feel good about it this time, but if (I emphasize if) it doesn't work out this time, I'll try again; before that, I'll try to be a Customer Service Agent for at least two years. My third choice is a Reserv. Agent, but I'm never giving up on becoming an FA!
I was wondering if you found out what hotel you'll be staying in. I'm sure it will be a nice place! If you ever have a chance, please post & let us know how things are going! :)
PDX=Portland! I know my city codes! 🙂

Congratulations, Gary & Adam! *Has a party, passes out cake, & throws confetti.* Can you (either both or one of you) tell me some of the questions asked at your second interview? I've been thinking of questions I might be asked this month. When I interviewed seven years ago, the only two I remember are, "Why do you want to work for Southwest?" & "Have you gone above & beyond the call of duty?" If you'd rather not tell me some of what they asked, it's okay! Who knows, maybe we'll work together some day! I'm certainly very, very excited about this, but I'm not going to lie & say I'm not scared, because I am a little bit. I have lots of enthusiasm & determination, though, that's for sure!
