Maybe when Charlotte loosen's USAir's strangehold at their airport. It has been Southwest's history not to enter a market unless they have a positive relationship with the airport people first. I doubt that Southwest has established these relationships with the people at CLT yet. Until MSP, CVG, or CLT react positively to Southwest coming to their airport then Southwest won't come.

Just a logistics question. One of the shows featured a family in West Virginia. Is it the practice for the limo to take the family from the town they live to the nearest Southwest city for their vacation. Or... is a charter planned for the nearest airport to their location. What is more common if the family lives a significant (more than 200 miles) from the nearest Southwest airport.

The "we will expand the schedule on" messages have been returned. It is currently (3/28/08) planned that Southwest will roll out its schedule to October 30th on April 17th.

With that said, I hope that aircraft with original delivery dates prior to 1989 should be placed on an expedited, gradual retirement program. And if some of the specials are on the list. N334SW (Shamu I) is with a May 22nd 1988 delivery date. All of the others are younger. Hopefully an upcoming delivery
will come in Shamu colors so that 334 will get retired gracefully soon.

To those of you that are switching, EVEN WITH THE REVELATIONS SINCE MARCH 6TH in mind, I would look for bigger safety issues with the other carriers outside Southwest. It's the FAA that's drop the ball.

Memo to those of you that think that Southwest is the only airline that has a safety issue. Notice that no other airline is making any claims about their safety. Read between the lines, all of the airlines will be shown to have the same problem before the end of this summer. You watch.

Someone on the Yahoo MDW group was asking if they saw a brand new full livery that had the same color as Nevada One. The person thought that it looked like Nevada One would not exactly. Is there a brand new full livery or... was it possibily Triple Crown One or similar? They saw the plane in question at MDW on March 14th. Thank You in Advance.

You can use Flightaware to determine which class of 737 you are likely to get. For example: The Long Island-Baltimore leg has 7 non-stop flights.
The following flights normally get the -700. Flight 796, 978, 3592 and Flights 3049, 292 and 1222 have gotten the -300. Flight 3686 which leaves ISP at 8:35 PM EDT is making its first flight under this number and plan so later tonight we will know which plane will be typically assigned to that one. Which normally happens the first days after the time change. For those of you who wish to make the extra effort to get a -700. Use Flightaware to get a history of which plane you are likely to get.

Bob Harvey, prior to the passage of the Wright Amendment, people who lived at those states, were very happy to creat their own unpublished schedule by building in two parts. The first, from your origion (in your case Tulsa) to one of Southwest's focus cities. Since your headed west, Las Vegas or Phoenix.
Using the March 12th schedule, I found flight 8 that leaves Tulsa at 10:40 AM Central with an 11:40 AM arrival in Las Vegas which connects with Flight 310 with scheduled departure from Las Vegas at 3:25 PM PDT with a scheduled arrival of 6:15 PM MDT. This plan is unpublished LAS/1. There is also a great unpubished PHX/2. Your first plane is an 11:45 AM CDT Non-stop to Phoenix that arrivals at 12:25 PM MST. Your second plane is Flight 310 that leaves Phoenix that leaves at 1:50 PM MST with a stop in Las Vegas and arrives at 6:15 PM MDT. It can be done, it just take two reservations and two check-ins per direction.

One thing I always do when I fly Southwest is while I'm walking towards the jetway. I very audibly tell the people in the line closest to the jetway, that YOU, the customer, have the power for this flight to leave early. That flight, which took place in Jan of 2007, had reached the runway for takeoff at the scheduled time. Great job for those that flew on the Martin Luther King morning of '07 flight from Sacramento to Chicago Midway and every one responsible for the flight pushing out 5 minutes early and reaching the runway at scheduled departures. This also includes the unsung heroes
the people responsible for sorting and getting our bags to the plane early as well.

Those to those who think that SWA's RR program is becoming closer to the rest of the industry. I have a feeling that go are mistaken. It is my opinion that all of the airlines that have "frequent flyers" are also more aggressively are controlling their programs as well. Before you bolt, ask the customer as DFW is it getting harder to use your AAdvantage miles. ask the customers at ORD the next time your are in Chicago is it harder to use your miles on United. The next time you are in Houston go over to the Bush airport and ask the Continental customer is they are having trouble using their miles. I suspected that they will ALL say that they are. But I don't think at SW had in mind that 8 round-trips from DAL to HOU should earn me an roundtrip from OAK to BWI even though you can. I also wish that JP Morgan Chase stop offering new accounts that include 8 RR credits when the account is open. Maybe JPM is also contributing to the problem of too many outstanding Rapid Award credits and not enough flights to use them on. Just some things to consider.

Have you contacted Southwest customer service or written to this airline.
Their address is
Southwest Airlines
PO Box 36647-1CR
Dallas, TX 75235-1647
In your letter, I would cite your flight and go through Southwest's "Customer Service Commitment" which is available at southwest.com under their "Contact Us" tab. Dallas needs to know that their people at ISP
didn't meet Southwest's Customer Service Commitment is writing.
I hope the ISP station manager is monitering this blog and has something
to say as well.

My best answer to Dai Ly's question is that either you didn't complete your booking with 36 or more hours left to departure (you didn't say) or there were 35 people with A-1 status who completed their booking ahead of you. Is that how the placement of the order of A-1 passes determined?

Use "Flightaware" to track flights. Use SWA then your flight number in the "Flight/Tail # box near the left edge of the web site. This is really helpful if you live some distance from your pickup airport for those taking your longer flights.

The problem isn't the use of open seating. Southwest did a good job sampling and testing this. The problem had to do with the introduction of
Business Select and the changes to the Rapid Rewards program that gives those who completed their purchase prior to 36 hours of scheduled departure and have flown 32 one-way flights in 365 days, the ability to jump ahead of the very first person to check-in at the 24 hour mark. That's where the biggest negative response is coming from.

Be sure to check in early, The first three flight plans from OKC to SAT for Sat 12/1 as of Wed at 2:40 CST are sold out and possiblity overbooked. The third of these is the 102/2101 through Love Field plan. So if you're on Saturday's Flight 2101, I really recommend checking in as close to departure as possible.

Heads up to those that are flying either MCI-DAL or DAL-SAT this week. There will be a even greater need to check in as close to 24 hours before as possible due to the Missouri football fans going to San Antonio. Also since Kansas and Missouri have the same home airport (MCI), there is a possiblity that these flights have been/will be overbooked because of the Kansas cancellation possibilities. Make sure you check-in early to get your seats. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Those of you who are considering trying other airlines may want to take a look
at the piece of the Phoenix ABC affliate put together. The piece authored by
Lisa Fletcher. Look under the heading "Cashing in frequent flyer (SWA has Rapid Rewards) miles without sufficient advance notice.

One things is for certain. I will be paying VERY CLOSE attention to the November traffic numbers that will be disclosed during the first week of
December (3rd throught 7th) especially the Revenue Passenger Mile and Load Factor statistics. I'm assuming that management will be as well.

Can someone estimate roughly how many Southwest customers have flown 32 one-way flights over the last 365 calendar days. Since Southwest has the ability to fly roughly 448,000 (3300 flights times 136 (avg seat capacity)) customers per day. I'm trying to figure the average number of A-listers to be expected.
