Glad to see Early Bird available at time of fare purchase. I find that it's worth $10 many times, especially for early morning flights, to not have to worry about checking in 24 hours in advance if I want a good seat, but still have the convenience of open seating and all its benefits. I am sure that those who buy travel insurance will also appreciate the ability to do it on the same transaction.

Never got to see the old terminal in person, but I do have a soft spot for MDW...first airport I flew into, on a Southwest plane of course (needless to say, when coming into Midway on a good sized plane is your gold standard for landings, you never complain about landings). The Orange Line is especially handy...it and Midway make day tripping to Chicago from other midwestern cities quite easy.
Looking forward to see what the new construction in A brings -- the amenities are already quite amazing

I hope Mr. Smith is able to find another airline that is suitable to his tastes. Not sure he'll be able to fly in First for free until he racks up quite a few elite-qualifying miles, though ... pretending to be oversized so as to be able to get a refund for a second seat used only works on an airline that gives such a refund when the plane isn't full, which is Southwest. And good luck with clandestine self-upgrades, the equivalent action on other carriers...flight attendants usually notice that.

I can understand the Wi-Fi not being free - it has a lot of costs associated with it, and many customers won't use it - but I do have one suggestion. How about offering a coupon code for a free Internet session as an option that people can instead of the drink coupon you get with every award on Rapid Rewards? I take medication that doesn't go well with alcohol, and I just drink pop or juice on planes. Wi-Fi for my iPhone, however, would be very nice on an evening flight when it's too dark to see much outside the window, and of about comparable value to the liquor option.

Thanks for all the info, Brian! Just out of curiosity...is there any particular reason a given plane gets the SW, WN, or LV suffix, or is it random?

Thanks for sharing these historical tidbits ... I was curious about how AA planes exactly found their way into the Southwest fleet when I flew on N679AA in October -- usually Southwest aircraft have SW, WN, or LV codes, which all seem to refer to the airline currently operating them...

I always find myself going through the Taylor Street Market on the way to my gate at MDW, usually just to grab an Italian ice, and possibly a ginger ale or something. Just hits the spot. I've been meaning to try Let Them Eat Cake -- my fiancée says that their cherry turnover is the best she's ever had, so I'll have to grab one next time I am there.

As a customer and investor, I appreciate Southwest's continued investment in Omaha. The quick-turn airline and the quick-turn airport are a good match for each other, I believe. Everyone here really appreciates the quick and courteous service to Denver and to Chicago's friendly airport (MDW).
