I had issues all morning getting the calendar to load. At around 9:20 CDT, I was able to book a January flight using the low fare calendar, but this only went out through the end of January. I ended up calling to make reservations by phone for the February flight I wanted to book. The agent said she had heard people were not able to access online, but she was able to access the calendar. Now I know for next time, call to get the unicorn tickets on the holiday week/weekend if they are not showing online.

Yes! You do not have to keep the points in your account to qualify for the companion pass. You just have to earn the required points in the calendar year. I don't think I have paid for a Southwest ticket for years (thanks to credit card signup bonuses and credit card spending). I also frequently dip below the companion pass level, but again- you just have to earn the points, they do not have to stay in your account. I have spoken to many people who mistakenly believe those 110,000 points are accumulated to "buy" the companion pass.

My almost 17-year-old daughter is traveling solo with Southwest for the first time. She is designated a young traveler. Will she be allowed to be dropped off at the airport and go through security on her own, or is she required to have an adult pass through security with her? She has TSA pre-check and a valid driver's license for identification. Same question for her arrival- will they let her just leave the airport and get picked up, or does an adult have to meet her at the gate?
