I'm looking at flights to Ft Lauderdale for late September-early October. Not gonna purchase tickets yet I'm gonna wait a little and see how things are looking there with reopening and everything. But I noticed there are pretty much but no nonstop flights anymore. I was thinking that having a stop on the flight is probably more of a risk with the virus. Just wondering what everyone else thought. Is it THAT much more of a risk?

I made a post on here a few weeks ago when I cancelled my flight for Mar.21st to Ft Lauderdale. Since then, ive been looking at flights just to see what the prices are at. My ideal time to rebook would be for August because I go back to college in September and I get really busy so it would be hard to find time for a trip then. August I would still be on break so it would be perfect. Anyways, this morning I was looking at SW flights for August and found some really good deals, specifically for the week I was hoping to go. Would it be really stupid to book a flight right now with everything going on? Even if its months away? If things were still really bad and it wasnt safe to travel at that point, would Southwest give me travel credit again? Thanks

Honestly, I dont see them doing that. I wish they would. They just haven't shown much empathy for their customers so I dont know why they'd suddenly switch it up

Kind of a general question, I know. But I just wanted some opinions from people who have also had to cancel their flights and have to reschedule

So I had a trip planned next week from Buffalo to Fort Lauderdale. A few days ago I cancelled because of COVID-19 of course. They gave me a credit toward my next flight since I booked the flight in January and couldn’t get a refund. I have no idea when a good time to consider rebooking is because I dont know when it will be safe to travel again... but Id like to book as soon as its safe to. Anyways, I was just playing around with some dates on the site for 4-5 months ahead to see what the fares are, and they are considerably more than what I paid before, plus nonstop flights are gone. This means id still have to pay a few hundred to rebook even with my credit applied. I know prices may lower, but if they dont, Im at a point where im considering booking with a cheaper airline and just saving the credit for another trip. Im already in enough of a bind with everything else being cancelled so seeing how much more id have to pay to rebook is disappointing. I guess my question is any of you think the fares will go down or if I should just try a different airline... ive seen flights for $175 on other websites... not nonstop, but still less.
