You are asking for proof on government advice not to travel? The government order is "Stay home." Further, the purpose of the travel was a business meeting of 20+ participants. That meeting has been prohibited by government action (and common sense.) If I didn't cancel I would have lost the funds with nothing. SWA is cancelling many flights at departure time. I remain under a "shelter in place" order. Airlines should be doing their part and not punishing people. These are extraordinary times.

This goes well beyond asking Southwest to make a magnanimous gesture. Trying to apply normal "no-refund" policies in this situation is, in a word, evil. It is no different than stealing money. Folks cannot -- should not -- fly. We need folks to stay home. Government/societal action is preempting our contract with Southwest. For Southwest, or any airline or business, to act otherwise is arrogant, anti-societal, and evil. In this moment we are demanding sacrifice from so many. Refunding airfare for flights not taken is likely a small part of the financial situation facing Southwest. Out and out greed is what it is.

Yet they want a bailout. These are extraordinary times. To insist on keeping folks money is arrogant. That other airlines might be doing it does not justify it. The airline industry, and SWA, are just proving they are rancid anti-customer oligopolist.

Your not following. They are refusing to refund airfare when the customer cancels because the government tells us to cancel -- and then after that happens SWA is cancelling the flights at the last minute. The point is that these are not normal times, airline activity is disrupted by the health crisis, and airfare should be refunded. Normal policies should not apply.

SWA, the leader in abusing its customers and hypocritical advertising about how it cares, is cancelling many, if not most, flights. At the same time our travel funds are kept hostage while the economy grinds to a halt and Southwest petitions congress for a bailout. According to flightaware.com southwest has cancelled over 1900 flights today. The policy of not refunding airfare but only granting credit towards future travel -- in effect keeping customers money -- in this time of health and economic crises is gob-smacking in its arrogance. Southwest -- this has to be changed and changed now.

SWA's announcement that they are extending the time period for using travel funds is galling. Its worse than if nothing was done at all. People are hurting economically and Southwest is asking for billions in our tax dollars for a bailout but will not refund money for flights that it winds up cancelling anyway. It is completely unacceptable. SWA is now the airline that abuses customers. To be clear, SWA is cancelling many, if not most, flights. According to flightaware.com over 1900 have been cancelled today alone. Yet is insisting on keeping folks funds even though government action tells us not to fly. It is dispicable.
