It is unfortunate that Southwest, and virtually all other airlines, acted so quickly. A single federal judge in Florida should not be making public health decisions for an entire country, with businesses falling in line for the money to be gained. Contrary to the SWA statement, this is not just a decision for one's personal health; what about others on a plane or in an airport? Why not let the CDC have the extra two weeks it sought in order to assess the latest covid variation impact? That problem aside, do the unions representing airline workers agree with the no-restrictions policy? At a minimum, for the benefit or workers and passengers, especially those with underlying medical risks or age-exposure, can't SWA develop an announcement making it clear that masks and respect for others continue to be recommended? Last, what about people who were already on flights or who bought tickets for future flights? Did SWA really need to make its decision so fast? Yes, some people cheered, but others have real concerns. SWA's customer relations gets a "D-minus" here.

So what is the solution from the tech department? I have an iPhone 11 (recently upgraded) and neither the app nor the website (via Safari) will work. I keep getting a "cannot connect" message. However, I have no problem using my laptop.

All of the major carriers, except SWA, are requiring masks for passengers. The "Love" airline apparently doesn't love us very much. We probably should take our business elsewhere. I sent an email to customer service last night, and the response was the standard P.R. nonsense about how much the company cares for its passengers and encourages protection. What good does that do when flying on an airplane for hours. Even the Trump Administration and all recognized medical authorities proposes the use of masks for everyone on board, but SWA still is not. Perhaps it is time to take our business elsewhere.
