Mallory,
Would've been quite a feat for Southwest to serve Austin-Bergstrom Intl. Airport since it didn't open until 1999! SWA began service to Robert Mueller Municipal Airport, no?

Brian,
In the United-Continental merger, the former acquired Continental, not the reverse. United chose to adopt the globe logo Continental used and with but otherwise Continental disappeared.

I can tell you right nor I dislike the bar at the bottom. There seems to be no way to hide or minimize it like other bars of this type, ex. Meebo.
Please fix this!

Your use of "United-Continental Airlines" throughout this post and the FreeHobby website is inaccurate. There is no such entity! I think you meant to refer to the parent company, which is known as "United Continental Holdings."
I have no affiliation with United, Continental or Southwest. Just want to see you use accurate information to further your cause.

I cannot get entered into this promotion!! I wasn't sure if I had entered previously under but the system claims my email is incorrect. I also tried the email I usually use with RR. I then tried to do a new registration thinking that was the problem, but that method is not working either. When I put all of the information in, nothing seems to happen. As far as I can tell I am NOT registered for this promotion!!

I noticed that your new service to EWR includes only Southwest hubs such as Chicago and Denver. Why can't service be offered out of places like DTW, where Delta is in sore need of some serious competition?

I'm glad to see Southwest finally get to Newark as my sister lives about 45 minutes away. I figured Chicago was going to be among the first cities to get service (I live here). Are there plans to include Detroit in the Newark expansion plans? My Mom lives there and despises Delta (and its high fares). Give your DTW fliers more choices please!

I'm a gay former employee (Customer Service & Support, fka Reservations). When I joined SWA I looked in vain for a GLBT affinity group all over SWALife, the company Intranet. Given that SWA has scored highly on the Human Rights Campaign index and the extensive marketing that Southwest does to the GLBT community I was certain I was missing something. I contacted the woman who spoke about diversity during our new employee orientation in Dallas (her name escapes me). She informed me there was no GLBT affinity group and that the needs of gay employees were addressed through the Diversity Council. WTF! Oh, and if I wanted to contact the (only) gay representative, she would have to pass the message along and he/she could decide if they wanted to respond.
Obviously I'm agreeing with the posters above who feel that Southwest is but one of the many companies that pays lip service to the concept of diversity & inclusion, yet fails at actually demonstrating it.
