Southwest Airlines Community

I'm booking for my family member and I love the fact that southwest has fare sales and usually the fare drops and they honor it (if you call in).   Would the reduction in points go back to my account or do they get reassigned to the family member I purchased them for?  I did a search for this subject but came up empty...     Thx in advance ...
