I would love to say that Southwest is understanding of those who are in college or may need to have a schedule accommodation during training, but it seems from hearing from current and former employees, they are not. If they start allowing accommodations during training, it might prove a little difficult to schedule the training. Do I think they could allow some leniency? Yes.. It's been said that perfect attendance is mandatory and if you miss for any reason, you're out. How much longer do you have in training?

You can check the status of your background check when you log into Sterling. However, I received an email from Southwest telling me that it was completed.

In Process is always a good sign. It would say something like "No longer under consideration" if it your application was closed. And a week is not that long. Some have been in process for months. Patience is key when applying at Southwest. Good Luck!

The remote position closed on 6/20. You can sign up to receive notifications if something like that position opens again. Remember to sign up directly through Southwest's website and not a third party.

The next steps are receiving the final job offer and hotel / flight emails. They are coming in no particular order so keep a look out for them. You might receive the book hotel / flight email before the final offer email or vice versa. The final email will contain your start date and a link to the final offer letter. Congratulations!

You can always accept the job offer at the company you received the job offer from and still stay in process with Southwest.
When you do receive the emails from Southwest for the background checks & drug testing, complete them. After they are completed and received back at Southwest, you will then receive a final offer. You do not have to accept the final offer if you don't want to. This will give you more time to contemplate your decision.
I believe however that you have to wait another year before you reapply (not totally sure of the time frame).
You need to consider what is best for you. Best of luck to you and congratulations on your job offer.

@skyrick Good morning to you as well. You know you've got this in the bag once they pull your application. It's just a waiting game now for you. My bet is you'll make the October training. Have a great day too!

It may seem like a nearly impossible task but they have assured people during several Teams meetings that they will review every application. I believe it to be true as I don't see many, if at all any people stating they received an automatic denial so that would mean the applications would have to be pulled by hand.
Let's break it down by numbers.
I'm sure there were some applications submitted that were not in the approved states so let's deduct around 2000 off the top. Narrowing the number even further down with applications that errored out or were incomplete and we have approximately 23000 left. Hypothetically let's say there are 20 recruiters. That would give around 1150 to each recruiter. Lets say they review 30 applications a day, that puts them at 38 business days to review all applications. They have 4 months (July - October) to review, schedule interviews and do backgrounds and to finally hire. With all of that in mind, I do see it as possible to review all the applications by hand, even if some were not auto denied. Even with less amount of recruiters, it is still possible.

You are not alone with not having heard anything yet. Realistically, it's only been a little over a month. But I can see where it can feel like months when you are waiting on something you want / need.
The recruiters are extremely busy with applications from all of the job openings, not just the Remote CS&S so it is taking longer than usual. There are training classes in Oct & Nov as well so just because you may not make the Sept one, that doesn't mean you won't be placed into one of the other 2.
Keep in mind that as long as you check your candidate home page and it says in process, they will eventually get to your application.

Thanks! I didn't remember the order I submitted mine.
@Ncjen409 It took almost 4 weeks for me to hear back for the next steps (background / drug testing). So if it's been only 3 weeks, give it some more time. I wouldn't call the recruiter since there were 26,000 applications and they are working through them as fast as they can and will just tell you the same thing. Also, when I did get the call / email for the background / drug testing, it was from a different recruiter than the first 2.

Don't lose hope. I think since there are 3 classes - Sept, Oct & Nov, they are filling each class one by one. Meaning they are working on filling up Sept's class and then they will work on the remaining 2. So you could be in the next 2 classes. Good Luck!

@Atxgirl you made a statement that was incorrect and not factual. There have been multiple people receiving offers after the virtual has been completed. And yes there has been some that have not. It has been stated by actual Southwest employees that not receiving a job offer during the virtual is not a definite no. There are some recruiters who offer during the interview and some who do not. We can choose to disagree as I will base my comment off what the recruiters and employees of Southwest have said during the team meetings. Have you had your virtual?

@Atxgirl That's not true. Others have heard back days later after the virtual and received a CJO. Let's not sow discouragement just because someone didn't receive an offer during the interview.

Are you referring to the remote position? If so, not sure how many have been hired but they are hiring close to 700. And yes they are still conducting interviews. Keep in mind that some of these will not make it after receiving the CJO whether due to not passing background, failure of drug test or other circumstances so it's possible they will have back up candidates. It is going to take weeks if not a few months to conduct interviews and get background clearances, etc. There are 3 training classes which are Sept, Oct & Nov. so keep that in mind because I think some may not hear from a recruiter until late August and be placed in the Nov class (just my thoughts).

Any suggestions on the dress code for the in person training in Dallas for the CS&S position? I understand business casual is best but are nice jeans with a blouse ok? Just wondering as the company that I have been with over 10 years is casual and I might need to increase my business casual outfits prior to going to training.
I believe the first set of training starts on Sept. 12 and goes through Sept 25. Will the training also be conducted on Saturday and Sunday of those 2 weeks? Thanks for everyone's input. Just trying to get all my ducks in row prior to going.

I'm at the same step you are. I received the CJO email and completed all task on 7/12 and nothing yet. I was told during virtual interview that it could take up to a week after completing the first set of task to get the drug test, background check, etc email.

I received a CJO on 7/11 at end of virtual interview. Process has been smooth. Interviews were not hard if you just be you. Definitely utilize the STAR method as they have suggested. Both people I have interviewed with have been nice.

They are still conducting / scheduling interviews. They received over 20,000 applications so it's going to take them a bit to get through them. Have you checked the candidate portal to see if your application is in process? Also you will receive an email either way, whether you are chosen to move forward in the process or not. Best of luck to you.

You can check your candidate's home page for the application status. Other than that, there's nothing you can do except wait. Since they are reviewing the applications in the order they received them, there is no set time they have to reach your application. Just have to be patient. Good Luck!
