I did hear about the new TSA rule. SW needs to charge for seats rather then early bird. Problem solved. You are correct it checked me in BUT its to get a chance for a better seat. Those families didnt pay extra and regardless of when they checked in they go to board before all of grp B that did pay

I 100% agree! Family boarding is between A and B. B ppl are early birds who paid. So what do we get? The privilege to sit with a kid who didnt pay extra?

I just flew from RSW to PIT. I feel that SW needs to charge for family boarding on certain routes. Florida for sure! I paid for early board check in and was given B 52-54. When they started to line us up and grp A went. Then its time for family boarding. There was at least 8 families with 2 kids each. They didnt have to pay any extra and got to board before me who paid. So by the time i got on the plane they had taken up so many rows. With 3 + 3 seats in each row. They need 2+2. So that left a single seat in all those rows. We were practically in the back of them plane to find a row with 3 seats. So what did i pay for? The kid in front of starts coughing...a deep cough for the whole flight. No mask and the dad allowed him to jump around for 2 hours. It needs to just be first come first serve. Do away with early bird....family boarding. Its funny how they need extra time to get on but jump right up when its time to get off!
