There has been a lot of talk recently about having larger people pay for two seats to fly and I want to say this is all kinds of wrong!
I have been flying as a passenger for over 50 years and I can tell you the seats have shrunk considerably in that time. When will airlines understand the "average" American is not 5'10" with a long body and short legs and only weighs in at 120 pounds? Having had to sit in the middle of three seats on more than one occasion I can vouch this seat was added only to torture those unfortunate to sit in them. There is no place for your arms, there is no place to move your legs -- pure agony! Make the seats to accommodate a 6" 200lb passenger and there would not be an issue with larger people!
Here is an idea. Why not require all airline employees who get the free or discounted flights to sit only in the middle seat for travel? Same for airline executives? Somehow I think things would change.
