SW may require the companion to have a RR number, but I had NO idea it was a separate number from my number. When I added her I did not know it was a separate number. There was no declaration or statement that I saw.
My purpose in posting this is to find out if anyone else has had this problem. It still does not make sense for her account to be credited with the points if I made the reservation with my SW credit card.

No, I manually input my number. I didn't even know she had a separate number.
Somehow it happened. We had flown together once with the pass before this trip, but I had never booked a flight and hotel until this trip.

Yes, our names are similar. I booked through Southwest, Booking.com.
I'll follow up, it's just that it would be nice if they put the points where they belong.

It is true, I just don't know how her Rewards number ended up on the hotel reservation. I made the reservation and she doesn't have a credit card. I always manually type in my rewards number, I don't copy and paste or do auto-anything. I'm wondering if this will happen every time I book a flight and hotel.

I haven't been with RR for long, but I have already had a few problems.
I booked a hotel last summer, but when I got there, my reservation was nowhere to be found. I had the confirmation printout, the hotel manager got involved, went to call Southwest or Booking.com, etc. They went above and beyond and were apologetic, but I was out of luck. They were totally booked. It was very hard finding a hotel nearby that wasn't full. This was extremely frustrating. I chalked to up to being a one-time thing.
In January, I flew to Hawaii and booked the flight and hotel through Southwest and Booking.com. My daughter flew on the companion pass. Three days after we returned, I got an email stating that the points for the hotel stay were posted to my account. The points never were posted. After numerous phone calls, emails and case numbers assigned, I was finally told that the points were posted to my companion's account. I had no idea she had a separate Rewards number. I don't know how this happened. Southwest will not transfer the points to my account. I was counting on those points to put me over the top for another Companion Pass. I will post on the FB page and contact the corporate office.
I'm also rethinking my relationship with Southwest.

The next time my companion and I are A and C boarding, I'll save the seat and say "she's in the bathroom." Hopefully it'll work! (My companion never checks in in a timely manner.)

No, it wouldn't help with TSA. I recently lost my license on VC. They wouldn't take the pic on my phone. It didn't take very long to go through security. I have PreCheck, so maybe that's why. They just did extra screening on my carry-on items. I didn't even have to present any photo id, I had my credit cards, healthcare card and AAA card. This was in Baltimore.

You can't book for your child on your Rewards account?
If not, I believe the only way you can get the points is to have the other parent book both ways, reimburse him/her for your half, and transfer the points to you later. But Southwest charges $5 for every 500 points you transfer. 😞

My companion (my daughter) and I traveled in January and booked a hotel through the Southwest site. Three days after our trip I got an email stating that my points had posted to my account. The points did not appear in my account. I made three calls and sent an email. Finally a customer service rep told me my points had posted to another account. I sent another email and received a response that the points were posted to my daughter's account and "regrettably, we are unable to move these points to your account." I did not use her RR number to book the hotel because I had no idea she had a Rapid Rewards number.
Has anyone else had this experience? I wasn't aware that the companion could receive my points and don't understand why this happened.
Now if I want to transfer them I have to pay. This puts me 8,000 points behind for earning the next companion pass.
