I just had the same issue. Was unable to purchase points during the ticket checkout to top off the account at 50% off. I tried several times and multiple credit cards, now have 7 holds on my cards.
Went to the regular buy page which was only 45% off and it sent me an email but no points until the purchase is successfully completed. Looks like I am SOL on this trip. Never had any issues before.
