Safety is an important point when traveling outside the home. If you have kids with you, you must care for his safety. The baby stroller and baby car seats should have to be taken with you. A few months ago, I took the safest baby car seat during my traveling period with my 3-year-old baby. Have a good journey, Thank you.

Airline seats are not very comfortable for children. I would suggest that for your five year old that you actually install the car seat into their airline seat. Your child will have a much more comfortable trip. When my two boys were very young, we did travel by plane and I had their car seats strapped in to their two seats. They were very comfortable and did not fuss at all. In fact an elderly lady passed by at the end and commented on how "well behaved" they were. The reason is that they were just comfortable.

Yeah, I've always appreciated how lighthearted and upbeat the SW crews are. Makes the stress of flying a bit easier. I think my funniest moment was when the stewardess placed a bag of peanuts and a bag of pretzels on the floor at the front of the plane before takeoff and asked us to bet on which one would win the race to the back during takeoff. I forget which one did win, but I remember that everyone got a kick out of it.

Good response from Lindsey. In addition to what she advised, you can also gate check your stroller for free so that you get it back at the jet bridge upon arrival. It's free too, so that does not count toward what you checked in for collection at baggage claim. At boarding time listen for the announcement for family boarding (between the A and B groups) so you can board the plane while there is still plenty of free seating. I suggest picking a seat near the back of the plane so you are close to the aft lavatory. This way you can change junior there without a trip all the way up to the front, where you are not allowed to form a line to wait for it to become available. At the back, you can hang out there without restrictions. One year olds (especially boys) can get ansy and it's nice to be able to let them stand up a bit during flight while you're still close to your stuff at your seats. Also be sure you have something for your son to drink. Maybe if he still uses a bottle at all, that woudl be a good way for him to clear his ears, which can be a problem at that age, as he might not know how to do it yet. I always carry candy with me as well as a tool to distract what might otherwise be a miserable kid. Finally, recognize that there is no video entertainment on SWA, besides what you bring with you. You can use their wifi to watch TV, but wifi does not always work on all flights. As long as you bring plenty of activities to keep your little guy busy the whole time, and whatever he needs to sleep, you should be in good shape.

Yes, you can check the carseat for free, in addition to any other checked bags. You can bring the stroller to the gate, and gate check that so you have it when you arrive at your destination to wheel your loved one up the jet bridge there.

I've been flying with Southwest for many years, and have heard the passenger safety speech hundreds of times. Yes, definitely hundreds. I'm fascinated by how Southwest flight attendants do their best to make the process funny and interesting even for those of us who can recite it ourselves. The good ones don't seem to repeat, but there are a constant supply of them. That tells me that flight attendants at SWA must value originality. Some sing, some do stunts, most tell jokes, and all of them still get the safety information across crystal clear. Do you have any sort of a meeting where you all go and perform your various acts, and give awards to the best ones? Do you video tape them? If so, I'd love to see it! If not, you all need to get together and show eachother what you all do. Some of you are down right hilarious.
