Regardless of the fact that the situation could possibly have been handled with more discretion and understanding (most of us were not there and just know that the crew was trying to accomodate everyone on the plane with safety and some level of comfort in an expeditious manner), the fact remains that SW and other airlines are trying to address a very real problem that many of us have experienced. Yes, the seats are small and there is very little leg and arm room but it is just not fair to have to give up the little bit of space that I've paid for and give it to someone else.
