How does the HUD help you when you have a gusty crosswind approach?
You guys sure them look easy (at least the ones I saw today in Sacramento).

Sounds like a great trip. I have noticed that most of the delivery flights come to Phoenix. How do you guys pick who gets to go on those flights? I look forward to the blog about what happens to the plane to prepare it for service once it arrives at the delivery airport. How long does "New Plane Smell" last anyway?

Shamu II and III was N501SW and N507SW but Southwest wanted the Shamus to have national exposure and the N500 series were the Boeing
737-500 series which are the shorter haul 122 passenger where today most
of them run inside the Wright Amendment states. So they painted N501SW
and N507SW canyon blue and made N713SW and N715SW Shamu II and III instead.

So far the BUF-LAX plans have been having a decent day. The leg that was scheduled to arrive at 11:40 PDT arrived at 12:55 PDT. But 971and 961 (which were scheduled to arrive at 3:20 and 6:10 PM) arrived nearly on-time.
2537 from LAS is only running 30 minutes behind ( not bad for a LAS-LAX). 321 is probably having weather issues at MDW not terrorist related. As I write
2512 is running close to schedule. Not bad for the first day for the BUF-LAX plans.

Sadly, on July 31st, another reason for diversion made its presence known
on board Flight 396 when two passengers couldn't control their temper on board. Those two people inconvienced not only the flight they were on, but potentially four others in Baltimore that their flight connected with. Can we
get along for two hours (on average)? When you are on board an aircraft
your business becomes our business if it effects us, think about it next time.
Hopefully media coverage of the incident will get people to think about their actions on board in the future.

It looks like the Federal Justice Department has decided to dig up the hatchet
that the four parties buried. Unless something drastic happens, the deal's
Dec 31st clause will kick in. My opinion is that the deal is already dead and we should restart and redouble the "Set Love Free" effort. Please revise your "Repeal the Wright Amendment" efforts as though this deal no longer exists.

I don't think you are testing assigned seating the right way. If Southwest is the one DOING the assigning, I don't think anyone would be happy about this.
I think you should halt the current test until you are ready for us to "select our seat" when we "check in online" approx. 24 hours in advance. Otherwise you are not truly doing a good test between assign v open seating. Or for some better yet, select the seat at booking. But I still prefer open seating. But do a fair comparsion between the two. Thank you for adding IAD.

I'm under the impression that Southwest had to really ask really nicely
to get the gates (two) that they have. I'm under the impression that
you can run about 7-11 flights per gate per day. So a lot of Southwest's future
at an airport has to do with their ability to get gates. Can someone address the process about how gates change hands and or obtained? Can someone address how certain airports are slotted and others aren't and how the affects an airline's plan about whether to go into an airport or not? If you haven't made reservations for these new flights yet, you better, some flights have already been booked heavily that only two fare classes are left. I also noticed that the New York based low-cost carrier did not change their prices on connections that they fly into Dulles from other Southwest cities.

It finally dawned on me who is pressured most by the current system as is. It
is the customer who is flying a short distance from a "focus" city. Las Vegas is your
busiest (by number of LUV jets leaving each day) airport. But those who flying
your 11:45 for Las Vegas to Sacramento are at a disadvantage to those are connecting
with this flight. Passengers that are connecting from other cities are allowed to get
their passes for this flight ahead of their Las Vegas colleagues because you are allowed
to get both passes of connecting trip at the same time. In the case of this flight, the
earliest group could log in at 4:20 AM Pacific Time and get there Manchester to Las Vegas
and their Las Vegas to Sacramento boarding passes then. The bottom line is that
this airline, which I love, had made a decision to give highest priority to "connecting
customers". The longer the first leg (those an earlier time) the higher the priority.
If this what Southwest had in mind then leave the online check-in process as is. But
if you want to all your customer on the same playing field then consider allowing boarding
pass pickup to begin at 6:00 AM Eastern Time on the day before the flight for all possible legs.
The current issue has to do with when the seats are selected, allow me to pick my
seat when I see it on the plane. Thanks.

It would get great if those who have their San Diego reservation for when the
"test" is going to occur feel about their 1 in 8 chance of their flight changing
from an open seat flight to an assigned seat flight. Also when will the seat
diagram of the inside of the 737 aircraft going to appear somewhere on
the main southwest.com website. Keep open seating. I'm also curious
about those who are scheduled to change planes in San Diego where there
first plane was open seating and the second was "assigned". Those people
will get a chance to see both procedure in one trip and could give great feedback.
