I can't remember the last time I flew on another airline. I fly from New Orleans to Jacksonville several times a year and do miss the non-stop flight in each direction that we enjoyed for quite a while. Recently my health has gone downhill quite rapidly and to have someone help me to and from the aircraft with a wheel chair. They have been so cooperative in accommodating my health problems; I can't thank them enough. Just to confirm how friendly and courtious the flight crew have been; I must relate something that happened last year in Birmingham when changing planes. There were an unusually large number of wheelchair early boards on the flight to Jacksonville that day and we had a fairly full flight. I was one of the last to be taken down the jet-way to board and was not really paying that much attention to the person who walked up to me to push me to the aircraft. When he spoke to me and I looked up the Captain asked if I minded if he took me to the plane. I said, sir I'd be honored to have you help me board. He said I don't get to do this very much and you might not feel that way by the time you get to the plane. We talked and laughed while going down the ramp and he suddenly ran the wheelchair into the wall; by accident, of coarse. He said I told you I don't do this very often and after we both laughed, I told him that I hope he can fly the plane better than he drives a wheel chair. The First Officer overheard the conversation and said don't worry sir, I taught him everything he knows. Needless to say we had a great flight and when we were deplaning he was waiting at the door to ask me if I thought he did a good job. I told him it was not too bad for a trainee; and the landing was pretty good also. It was a wonderfully memorable flight. Just keep up the great job you have been doing for 40 years. I apologize for taking so much blog space; but, I thought everyone would enjoy reading about my experience.
