See, here's the sad part in my eyes. I trust Southwest more than any other airline in existance, and I STILL DO... If this happened at Southwest, what is going on across the entire industry... Wake up people... This is probably going on everywhere, and Southwest is the only one who will fess-up because they are a well run, respectable company.

I honestly believe Southwest is the best airline we have in the USA, and I would never think that SWA would ever sacrifice human safety over the almighty dollar - but I have to be honest, there are a few US carriers out there that don't give me that warm and fuzzy feeling like SWA does. Even though the other airlines do have some great employees just like SWA, the other airline corporations seem to put too much pressure on their employees. Southwest, please keep growing... America needs you...

I cant wait to give it a try... Come on people, lets not knock it until we try it... I have to say though, I'll be disappointed about not having the "pre flight" entertainment of watching the A line campers and the pushing in the A line.
The best boarding experience I've ever had was with Frontier, unfortunately you can't fly them unless your going to Denver. They assign the seating, but load from back to front, by row. Nobody lines up, they just call, 26, 25, 24. etc. But in any case, this new boarding policy is a really great compromise. its a great compromise for everyone...
With the kid situation... Anyone who doesn't travel with kids, i can tell you pretty much resents the family preboarding. it always seems like, just because someone has a 4 year old, it gives the family of 10 the right to cut the line... I actually think that the boarding after A, but before B is also a great compromise for those of us who don't travel with children.
SWA is always #1 in my book. I don't care if they make us walk backwards down the jetway - just flying with smart, trained, friendly and intelligent employees is enough for me to deal with any boarding process. my only real complaint is not being able to travel with my dogs. I say remove the children, and let us bring our dogs. My dogs are probably better behaved than your children 🙂 Just kidding, lighten up...

Look, so a flight attendant made a judgement call that may or may not have been the right one. People need to be able to do their jobs, and make decisions. Empowerment is so very important, but people will make decisions that not everyone agrees about. Look at how poorly run most of the airline industry is. For those of you who say you'll never fly Southwest again... I give you two flights on another airline, you'll be back...

I am the CEO of a small company (110 full time employees), and I know first hand (just on a smaller scale) how difficult it is to keep large numbers of team members happy and in love with the company they work for. The first time I flew Southwest I knew that they had something very special in their employees and attitude towards teamwork.
I often "interview" people who work for different companies when I fly, to try to get a feel of the corporate culture of the company they work for, and if I learn anything, I take it back to my own company and try to improve our corporate culture. It is amazing what the people who work for other airlines will say about how they feel about the company they work for. One flight attendant said to me, "If I didn't work here for 15 years already, I'd just quit and go work for Southwest because they know how to treat their employees".
Employees are truly an asset to any company, and employees are the face of your company, in any business. It doesn't take that much, at the end of the day to keep employees and customers happy. The truth is, it all starts from the top down - and the blog post by Steve says it all.
Through my years of management and research, I have learned a lot. The problem with most corporations in America is that employees in companies start to feel that the executive management almost has an "elitist" attitude towards the people who work in the organization - and that is the first major failure towards the concept of "teamwork" , and what normal person wants to work for management that disassociates themselves with the "face of the company".
