Living in Boise I venture over to PDX a lot. I was there last week. It was actually HOT. In upper 80s and sunny. But then got back to normal.
I loved arriving there when DL had their Asian operation going. Nice ot see more of the big planes.
In fact, first time I went there, my dad and I flew Pacific Express' BAC1-11 in May '82 and pulled in next to DL L-1011. Very nice size comparison LOL.
Anyway, I really enjoy some of the entertainment places as well 😉

Hi Bill and all in schedule planning.
I just want to say a few words about this and future scheduling.
First, I am happy to see us grow into the larger markets on the East coast. it is about time.
Secondly, it concerns me that at my home station, that it appears that with the latest flight cuts here, as well as retiming of remaining trips, that we seem to be de-optimizong the schedules here. Yes we finally get a through flight first thing in AM to DEN, but latest scheduled return leaves DEN at 2:15pm. That doesn't seem to convenient for any business traveller. Or leisure, for that matter.
Also, our latest inbounds from anywhere easterly, or for connecting purposes from the East, seem really too early in day. Last arrival from SLC at 6ish PM? That really helps out no one east of SLC. And finally, our new PDX/SEA schedules will seem to help out Horizon quite a bit in my opinion.
Yes, I am concerned that we will cut here, then amazingly when flight loads go down due to worse schedule here, we cut and so on. A downward spiral to justify a future discontinuation of service.
When I started here at WN, I always was wondering how long it would take for WN to become like how the larger airlines were at that time. Well, it looks like 15 years is the answer. So, I feel in another 12, we wil be like how they are now.
Thank you for your time and to let me vent.
So, when do we start the hub-and-sppoke system? LOL. Just kidding.
Take care and have a nice day.
Mike

Steve, I heard that they were going to get the money no matter if they chose the passes.

Oh, forgot one other item.
It seems Southwest is headed in the direction on being 'like every legacy airline', as this would be another step in that direction. And you can see where they are today!

My opinion is stay away from assigned seating.
If a pax knows what seat they will be occupying, they seem to have a tendency to lag behind and wait until the very end of boarding to get on. As you know with WN, pax are there early to grab the best seats. Having the unassigned system helps to have the pax at the gate ready to go.
Also, how many times have you seen a pax come to the gate counter and request seat assingment changes, and many times they picked out the seats themselves on the computer at home. What a waste of time if many are going to switch anyway. Plus, I have been on many a flight where after all pax were onboard, the FA came on the PA and said 'That's all the people, so if you want to change, go ahead'. That defeats the purpose,as well.
And finally, there have been many times I have seen duplicate seat assignments, even on a Frontier flight with 22 people! And with Southwest's many multiple segment flights, this would seem to me to be a bigger possible problem.
