Well, I personally think that if you're too big to sit in a seat, whether due to obesity or just a big muscular NFL linebacker, if you infringe upon a neighbor's seat, you're stealing from that passenger. I mean, I fly for a living, and there's not much worse than having a large guy or gal next to you whose arm is right up against yours. Planes are hot as-is, and having the extra heat of a person on you sucks. I paid my ticket price, so why the hell should I have to sublet part of my seat area for free, and be uncomfortable?
This isn't a FAT person issue, this is a CUBIC INCHES issue. If you had a house next to mine and decided to add onto it and build into my backyard, I'd have a problem with that too. This is no different.
Kudos to Southwest for showing that celebrity does NOT mean special treatment. I love Kevin Smith's movies, but this is such an EPIC FAIL on his part - I mean, he buys 2 tickets because he knows the policy, and he CHOSE to fly standby, knowing this could happen. Piss on him. This is sour grapes for being called out on the policy HE KNEW EXISTED. Celebrity does NOT buy you special favors, Kev.
