Its sad to see Islip is losing another three flights, down to 22. We have lost 40% of the flights. During the middle of the the day, the new SWA terminal is empty with not one plane at one of the eight gates. The "very bullish outlook" about ISP we heard early this year looks like it will not be coming to pass after all. At what number of flight {less than 10?} is SWA pulling the plug.

I am really starting to get worryed about SWA at Islip (ISP). Today, another two flights are gone and soon SWA will be down to only 20 Flights a day. Why did SWA spend 60 Millions dollars on a terminal at macarthur airport that sits idle most of the day. With the opening of LGA next year, NO new Islip cities added in years and the pairing down of Islip flights from the mid 30's a few years ago to the low 20 now, SWA's stay at ISP could be not be much longer. I know all the blogers say ISP is a "GREAT" station for them, but there actions say something different.

I'm Concerned about ISP. This airport is really great for Long Islanders and we don't want to lose SWA at all. ISP has a history of airlines using it until they get NYC airport rights then bail out went they get into LGA or JFK. IE: Spirit Airlines

I was wondering if SWA has been taking steps to get improved landing equipment at ISP (Long Island Macarthur). Quite often lately, ISP has experienced hours of visibility below landing or take-off minimums preventing approved operations because ISP only has CAT I landing equipment. This period of inclement weather causes lost revenue to SWA and inconvenience to hundreds of travels going into and out of the airport. Since the FAA and Town of Islip, N.Y. is responsible for the maintenance, operation and up keep of the airport; they should be looking for meanings of federal funding to install ALSF-2 approach lights, centerline and touchdown zone lights and CAT III landing equipment. Since SWA has a substantial operation at ISP now, they should be lobbying both agencies for the funding and installation of this improved equipment.
