Cory, you are absolutely "right on" about taking an accordion on board Southwest! This year I switched my airline allegiance to Southwest because they are on time, friendly, and have the necessary overhead bin space to accommodate accordions. I can rely on adequate cargo space on the 737-700 and 737-800 air crafts that Southwest flies. My friend, Colette, was able to get her Petosa AM 1100 on board while heading to the annual Las Vegas International Accordion Convention last week to play in the orchestra conducted by Professor Joan Cochran Sommers. And I flew for the first time with my accordion via Southwest to San Diego and out of Pheonix with my accordion to accordion orchestra workshops lead by blogger/instructor, Shelia Lee, this past February. It is a relief to know that both I and my accordion are welcome aboard the main cabin of Southwest. I make it a point to tell my accordion friends to fly Southwest. A good strategy is to pay the early boarding fee to ensure that a space is available for you to store your accordion in the overhead bin.
