You cannot, under the law, require a preboard passenger to be delayed at exiting the plane. In fact, it would be more logical for them to exit the plane before anyone else.
Keeping a passenger on the plane against their will would result in a lawsuit for illegal detention and arrest.

I’ve flown with firearms for over 20 years, both military and civilian LEO. Declare your firearm when you check it in, follow the screening instructions of each individual airport, they almost all vary. Claim your bag at the other end and be on your merry way. No added security, only TSA knows your bag has a firearm. No worries.
