Southwest Airlines’ 50th Anniversary celebration is in full swing and it’s been great sharing the different ways we are honoring this milestone with our Employees, Customers, and partners. Our one million Acts of Kindness Challenge is underway and we’ve loved hearing the stories of how Employees and Customers are putting their Hearts in action. There’s also been a lot of enthusiasm for the Southwest Kindness Pledge, with people committing to make the world a kinder place.
To continue championing Kindness, we are thrilled to announce The Birthday Party Project as the official community partner of our 50th Anniversary! The Birthday Party Project is a Dallas-based organization that partners with more than 60 agencies across the country to bring joy to children experiencing homelessness through the magic of birthday parties. They believe every child deserves to feel special, especially on their birthday, and through our partnership, we will help thousands of children realize they’re worth celebrating.
To jumpstart this partnership, we are donating $50,000 to The Birthday Party Project from the Southwest Airlines Foundation, a corporate-advised fund within the Silicon Valley Community Foundation. The donation will help nearly double The Birthday Party Project’s 2020 impact and be used to expand their reach by supporting growth to new markets and partnerships with new agencies.
At Southwest we believe community is more than a place – it’s at the heart of what brings us together. Through this partnership, we will help children feel loved, one birthday celebration at a time – stay tuned for additional engagement opportunities throughout the year!
