Recently flew from rsw to bmi on the 8am flight which originated in rsw. Checked in at exactly 8am the day before, and received a boarding position of B55! Are there that many people using early bird check-in? Any info? Thx

Between A-Listers and Early Bird buyers it is possible 100 people were in front of you - especially in Florida.
also seconds count when checking in. Checking in at -23 hours 59 minuted and 40 seconds can lead to a dramatically worse boarding position than - 24 hours exactly . Everyone is trying todo what you did

Just want to add if an A Lister has other travelers on their reservation they will also be pre assigned before the regular check in customers.

One more thought -- you mentioned BMI in your post. Do you mean BWI? Baltimore is a significant SW hub, and it is likely that there could have been many A Listers on the flight for that reason as well.
