Cancelling Flight w/ Points for Family Member/Friend Without RR Acct.

If I book a Wanna Get Away ticket with points for my brother that doesn't have a RR account, and decide to cancel, will the points go back into my account? Or do I need to create an account for him and purchase a Wanna Get Away Plus ticket for him?

When a flight bought with points is canceled, the points go back to the account that yielded the points to purchase the flight.
