Soured on Budget Rent-A-Car

FYI:

SW's website quotes estimate and fees but at the counter Budget nickle-and-dimed my fees up a bit and pushed the daily loss damage waiver saying that my insurance carrier may not cover me if I am from out-of-state.

I get that it's a standard practice for them to push up the fees and I reluctantly agreed without checking my coverage (yes...my fault) and my cost doubled.

Also don't be in a hurry, they did not have my car ready and after about an hour's wait the one they gave me reeked of various smokeables.

Just sayin.

(BTW the flight was fine and on time)

Are you signed up with Budget or any other renter's program? I feel like if you do that, they don't push as strongly with all the extras as they are hoping you return to them.

You may also be able to use the kiosk without the hard sell from the agent.

Some of the programs let you setup a preference for declining everything as well.
