Since LAX doesn't have lockers and I really don't want to be dragging my bags around for hours while I wait for my transfer to a cruise ship, my question is this.
If I simply don't pick up my bags at baggage claim, will a Southwest employee pick them up and store them in their office? If so, how long after the flight lands do you have to pick them up?
Thanks in advance.

Not how the system is designed to work, please don't abuse it.

Thanks for basically telling me yes without telling me yes.
"Abusing the system" in my opinion would be a frequent flyer doing this for every trip. This is my first time in the air since the pandemic.

I disagree, and that's why we can't have nice things. Maybe you'll get lucky and have it turned over to LAPD.

The bags will eventually be taken in by Southwest bag agents. If they're not taken by someone else. Aside from this not being how the system is supposed to work, it's generally a bad idea, and not without risk.
What I've done in the past is leave my bags with the bellman at the most convenient hotel. You don't have to be staying there, but you should tip decently.
