Yep, it hasn't been ideal. An extension period was offered, but you needed to cancel your flight early/mid 2020 to get it. If you cancelled after that time period the standard 12 month from original purchase date expiration applied. Airlines were not shutdown, but I agree it was a wise decision not to travel as we were encouraged to stay home. At this point you can convert the credit to a voucher that is good for 6 months, but the credit value is reduced by $100 to do this. You have 6 months after expiration to do this process and you need to call to do it. Contact Customer Relations --TheMiddleSeat

6% decrease in value according to this article: https://thepointsguy.com/news/southwest-2021-devaluation/ I would not expect any airline to send out notification of a devaluation so don't hold your breath waiting for an email. --TheMiddleSeat

@marymitri wrote: They were responsible for losing the bag, they should not just close a case, but take responsibility and recognize it was their fault and offer compensation. That's quite a wild accusation considering Southwest retrieved a bag based on the description provided and then the owner of the bag failed to check to make sure it was actually their bag. I'd stick with the standard, "I'd like to see if Southwest can find my bag" and hope it works out for you. Good luck, I really do hope it is returned. --TheMiddleSeat

Unfortunately lots of flight changes are being made, not just to Mexico, but across the entire network. You didn't post your route, but I doubt ALL flights to Mexico are cancelled so I would suggest contacting Southwest to see if there are other options that would get you there on your preferred day. This may add an additional layover, but that beats losing a day. --TheMiddleSeat

The easiest option is to make multiple reservations, then the people that will need to adjust can adjust easily online by themselves. You can make multiple purchases with a voucher, it functions just like a gift card in that respect. If you make a single reservation then you would need to call Southwest to make changes to some of the passengers on the reservation. Either way works and neither affects the value of the voucher. --TheMiddleSeat

The only point I was disputing was that an ID is required to fly. It's not. Seems like you don't want to believe facts because now you just say you don't think it would work to fly without an ID despite TSA specifically saying you can. Numerous people on this forum have asked how to fly without an ID, it happens. --TheMiddleSeat

Maybe pictures help? No ID required to fly. It's not a political statement, just fact checking your post which said an ID is required. It's always fun to see the people with incorrect information say the discussion is done. --TheMiddleSeat

@gsking wrote: And while we're at it, you're agreeing with me that you need to VERIFY YOUR ID TO FLY. The same way you need to VERIFY YOUR ID TO VOTE. (I won't even get into the fact that many states including Colorado and Denver have similar or more "restrictive" voting laws, because it's off topic. But you might want to go research if you're curious) Uhhh... I said no such thing. Specifically, I stated the exact opposite, that no ID is required to fly. But since you also think Colorado has more restrictive voting rules it doesn't seem like you read all the details of things and just like the headlines you hear. --TheMiddleSeat

@Thiliphk 1. As stated at least 3 times earlier in the thread, this is a customer to customer forum. To provide a comment directly to Southwest you should contact them Contact Customer Relations 2. Federal law requires all passengers 2 years and older to wear a mask. Despite multiple notifications of this on southwest.com perhaps you were not aware before flying. Southwest must enforce the requirement. 3. Referring to someone as "old lady" doesn't help anyone feel any sympathy for you. --TheMiddleSeat

@gsking wrote: I want my airlines to fly planes safely and my fellow voters to have ID... the same ID they need to fly on a plane. It's really that simple. If you're trying to make more of it, you aren't interested in legal and fair voting. I keep seeing this argument, the problem with it is no ID is actually required. TSA accepts multiple forms of identification, BUT if you do not have identification you can still get on the plane after answering additional questions. https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/identification Southwest requests an ID when checking a bag. While I don't see anything that specifically says what happens should you not have an ID, the simple way around this is to not check a bag. Southwest does not request an ID at any other time. Not citing any opinion about IDs and voting, just that the argument comparing voting to flying is extremely flawed. --TheMiddleSeat

@mlea If it's still within 24 hours of making the reservation you can cancel and get a cash refund then use the travel funds to rebook. If you are past the 24 hour window there's nothing you can do at this point, if you cancel you would just end up with more travel funds. The only reason I can see for you to cancel and rebook would be if the existing funds you have are expiring soon, then you could use them for this trip and have new travel funds that expire a year from when you booked this new trip. --TheMiddleSeat

As a former flight attendant you'd have no problem if I took my seat belt off while taxiing? You of course have no idea how long I plan to have it off so you could choose to ignore federal regulations and just let me do whatever I want? Again, no reason to lower your mask to speak, it shows you don't have any understanding of the reason behind wearing masks and no concern for others around you AND also demonstrates you are willing to dispute federal regulations. And yes, I read your complaint and when someone is rude and abrasive when describing someone else I question their judgment about someone being rude and abrasive. I've called out Southwest for their hit and miss handling of travel fund extensions so I'm hardly a corporate defender, but the "not fair" argument never sits well with me. It just sounds like whining. Enjoy your companion pass for the next 7+ months. Have you even thought that maybe you could just earn CP for next year? --TheMiddleSeat

@Mauibound Why are you lowering your mask to talk to someone? That's one of the times when it's actually more important to be wearing a mask. I don't think suggesting Southwest not enforce federal regulation is going to be seen as a good idea. --TheMiddleSeat

Ok, so then when do the extensions end? Make another extension now and then it's "not fair" for the people expiring next year who didn't get an extension. Not being able to use your companion pass as much as you would have liked is going to cause you to jump to another airline that doesn't even offer a companion pass option? Ok, whatever floats your boat. --TheMiddleSeat

@AndSoItGoes Your info is fine for historical purposes, but does no good predicting current or future flights. Southwest is not like the legacy carriers that only use certain aircraft on certain routes. At the time of writing this, WN8521 on a Max 8 is enroute from DAL to SKF and also WN8505 PAE to PHX, neither of those are on your list. You'll also see that Southwest is no longer using only 6000 series flight numbers for Max 8 flights. The only way to check to see if your flight is on a Max 8 is the info noted above with the noted caveat that aircraft changes can occur and any time. --TheMiddleSeat

It's unfortunate, but schedule changes do happen.
