Can I pack my walking cane in my checked luggage?

I am going on a trip that will require lots of walking. I will need my walking cane for assistance. I don't need it while boarding the plane. Can I pack my walking cane in my luggage? Is that allowed or do I need to take it with me as a carry on?

Yes you may check it in your luggage.

Sticks and canes should pass through security without an issue inside checked bags. Hiking poles, on the other hand, are classed as sports equipment, and they can only go in hold baggage.

It should also come through the regular baggahe claim, not the special one.

I've done it. No problem whatsoever.

Before my hip replacement I also used a cane to board the aircraft. Put it in the overhead compartment. No problem there, either.
