Jeramy,
Are Smush, Kobe, and Kwame booking Southwest flights to make their tee times on the golf course?

My time in HQ spent with ALL of you was absolutely incredible. At first, I felt like an outsider since I don't live or work in Dallas and I was a tad bit out of my element, but I have a LOT of things to share with you all:
1: I pretty much have detailed my whole experience in my head from the time I got off work to the time I arrived in PHX today. I shall blog about the whole surreal experience from the PHX ticket counter, the DAL ticket counter, and the overall experience in HQ. I also used about a roll of film (I didn't get the DAL cops on the Segway though!).
2: The party ROCKED. I seriously can't stress to you how much FUN it was! It was an experience I shall never, EVER forget!
3: I WILL be relocating to Dallas. This is NOT a want. This is my goal that I WILL achieve. I don't know where, when, how, or what it takes to be in HQ but darnit, that is where I will be in a few years. I can't think of anywhere I've ever wanted to be more than Southwest headquarters. When you walk into that building, you know you are somewhere special. The vibe there is unlike anything else. The employees who don't know you from Adam treat you like you are someone important and they give you genuine respect and want to know all about you. Maybe it's a Texas thing.........................................
4. The stories I heard were absolutely incredible. You are truly an amazing group of people and I'm proud to call each and everyone of you my co-workers.
From the bottom of Jedi Blog Masters heart..............................

The Fakers MIGHT win a game, however, let me point out that they have ONE win against a team with a .500 record or better the WHOLE SEOND HALF OF THE SEASON. What that means is that they might get swept. If that happens, I'll leave a purple and orange broom by your desk.

Unfortunately, no. We just have a release date for April 26 right now. I'll post it here as soon as the next set opens.

"Thanks for the change in the booking process. I only have one question about that: WHERE ARE THE DATES? I CALLED THE RESERVATION LINE AND THEY ACTED LIKE I WAS CALLING FROM A NUT HOUSE! YOU POSTED THAT YOU WOULD MAKE THE TENTATIVE DATE AVAILABLE. WHY DONT YOU TELL THE EMPLOYEES FIRST BEFORE THE PUBLIC SO THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT AND BE ABLE TO USE THAT GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE WE ALL HEAR ABOUT!"
Whoa, hold on now. This was just announced to US (reservations agents) that they were going to announce the date of the schedule opening on the 17th. That was Tuesday. They said it would be released to us either Wednesday or Thursday. At what time of day it was released, I don't know. I wasn't here yesterday. All I know is the tentative day for release is April 26th open for sale until November the 2nd. Of course, the date is subject to change.

Beth,
I wore khakis to my interview (either that or courderoys...I forget) and a button up short sleeve shirt. Worked out just fine. I'm not sure how PHL ramp is but I know from the new hire luncheon in January that PHX has a LOT of female ramp agents!
Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnd.........they DID show us a video, but it was all the cool southwest commercials over the years, like the 70's with the FA's in hotpants and the FANTASTIC NFL commercials. They showed us the "Wanna get away?" commercials as well while they deliberated for the interview candidates.
The best advice *I* have that I guess kinda worked for me (even though I had numerous years of telephone experience) is walk in with confidence. Walk in like you already got the job with a big ol' smile on your face. Don't think you can do the job, KNOW you can do the job.

Phillip,
What was the exact message you received? There a few reasons that could prevent you from getting a boarding pass online:
1: Should you check in online and get to the next screen and it says "Airport Check in required" in RED, then that's either a random TSA security check OR your name might match a name on the watch list. There is nothing Southwest can do about that when it comes to TSA. We don't go out of our way to deliberatley try to inconvinience customers of ours. That wouldn't make much sense, would it?
2: If it says your reservation is currently being processed, then usually the airport made a change to the reservation such as a later flight or flying standby on an earlier flight. Any changes the airport does WILL result in that error message. When that happens, a simple call to reservations before midnight Central time or after 2AM Central can fix that. As soon as we fix it, then it's available to print.
3: If there is an age sensitive fare and the passenger is not age verified through their Rapid Rewards account, then they need to show proof of age at the ticket counter to receive that rate (IE. military, senior, child, infant, youth). Especially the senior fare for passengers over 65 because it's usually a substantial savings.
Hope that explains a few things.

I've found that most people calling us who ask that question are calling to find out the likeliness of a few things (especially during weather):
a: The chances of their flight being delayed due to weather in other locations.
b: The chances of their flight being totally cancelled due to weather.
c: The chances of their flight being delayed or cancelled if it is an originating flight the next morning. This situation gets tricky if it's a stubbed flight that we haven't received information for. Most people in this case just want to know if their plane even made it in the night before or if it didn't. In this case we either cancel the outbound flight the next day or use another plane.
Of course, on a totally (semi)unrelated note, the one *I* love getting is:
Me - "That flight makes one stop with NO change of planes."
Them - "Where does it stop?"
Me - "..."
Does it really matter since you don't get off the plane? Then again, I guess you want to make sure you don't stop somewhere that has inclement weather and risk your flight being cancelled on the one stop (which happens rarely, but not often....usually they skip and go non-stop).

For me, it's been The Boondocks ever since it came out. Bloom County was great, Dilbert MIGHT be my all time favorite, Far Side was creative (and made great calendars), but for my upbringing and part of my generation it HAS to be The Boondocks.

What are you talking about? 70 degrees is a cold snap! You obviously didn't see the snow we got in January by the airport either! Of course it was anything but flurries, but still we got it!
Oh, and for the record, I wear shorts in 50 degree weather using Jedi mind tricks on my cold legs.
