See the other threads -- there's currently a "glitch" that is making A-Listers not be checked in automatically or be assigned their positions. Until it's resolved, you can: -- Board after the A group, per policy, if your boarding pass says A-List on it or you show your A-List card. (Many don't as a result of this glitch.) -- Purchase Upgraded Boarding, and then request a refund of the fee following travel.

Unfortunately, it's a known "glitch" - see other threads here. I'd recommend buying Upgraded Boarding then requesting a refund after travel is over.

Lots of people are reporting this "glitch" the past couple of days. 😞 My advice is to board at the end of the A group, per A-List policy, or if you prefer buy Upgraded Boarding and reach out to Customer Relations later and request a refund. Unfortunately, because of how Southwest's boarding position system works, there's not much else you/they can do. Positions have already been allocated, and gate agents aren't allowed to give out Upgraded Boarding for free.

As has been repeated many, many times -- Southwest cannot dictate which seats preboarders must use, as that would be a violation of the Air Carrier Access Act. The only solution to the "problem" is assigned seating.

Despite the confusing naming & branding, "Southwest Vacations" is not Southwest Airlines, it's a travel agency named Mark Travel Corporation, doing business under a licesnsing agreement. You earn RR points on Southwest Vacations packages, because Mark Travel buys them from Southwest (at a low cost) and gives them to customers as a purchase incentive. Mark Travel doesn't redeem RR points because Southwest won't pay them enough for the points to cover their costs. Mark Travel doesn't have the best reputation, and Southwest Vacation packages come with many limitations and restrictions. If there's an issue and you attempt to contact Southwest, they will just refer you back to Mark Travel. I'd recommend using Southwest Vacations with caution. Separately, if you have the Rapid Rewards Visa Card you can book hotels, rental cars, and vacation packages using your RR points through More Rewards. This is also a 3rd party product, and the redemption rate is quite steep, but it's an option. The best use of RR points remains booking Wanna Get Away fares on Southwest.

Before the changeover to the new booking system, notifications for me were sporadic, and unreliable. Since they changeover it's gotten worse. 😞 I contacted Southwest via the web form, and I received a generic reply that didn't address my question.

That info is in your confirmation email. If you booked round trip, it will only show you the total for both legs, not for each individual flights.

Southwest recently instituted and began enforcing a duplicate reservation policy: Prohibition of Multiple/Conflicting Reservations: To promote seat availability for our Customers, Southwest prohibits multiple reservations for the same Passenger departing from the same city on the same date, or any multiple reservations containing conflicting or overlapping itineraries (such as departures for the same Customer from multiple cities at the same time). Furthermore, without advance notice to the Passenger or purchaser, Southwest may cancel such reservations, or any other reservations that it believes, in its sole discretion, were made without intent to travel. With the exception of Southwest gift cards, funds from proactively cancelled reservations by Southwest will be returned to the original form of payment. Reservations paid for with a Southwest gift card will have the amount applied from the gift card held as travel funds for use by the Customer on a future Southwest Airlines flight.

You can add EarlyBird Check-In to your Senior fare. You'll be assigned a position at t-36 hours, but will still need to check in at the airport for age verification. The boarding pass you'll receive will have the position reserved earlier.

@mw5000 wrote: Hi @LindseyD Does this mean each of the assigned member can keep ther companion pass? for example, i will issue one for my wife first. But she is too busy to come on a trip. I issued one to my sister so she can come with me. She has a CP card now. Down the road, when my sister cannot come with me to a trip. Can i just take my wife to come on a trip with me without using my third re-issuance for companion pass? hopefully that makes sense. No. After the initial selection of your Companion (which doesn't count as a change), you can change the designated Companion up to three times per year. You'd need to change it back to your wife, which would be the second change. This leaves you one more change this year. If you re-qualify for the CP next year, on Jan. 1 the counter restes and you are given three more changes.

If she gave Chase her Rapid Rewards number when applying then that's where they will send the points. In that case, her best bet is to reach out to Southwest Customer Relations (I recommend via Twitter) and have them reset her login credentials. If she did not supply her RR number to Chase when she applied for the card, she should contact Chase and find out what RR number she was assigned automatically. Then she can setup online access using that new number.

I'm certain Gary Kelly is well aware of the policy, and the money it returns to Southwest in the form of unused travel funds. Keep in mind that -- for now at least -- Southwest still allows you to cancel or change and use funds toward future travel without fee.

Unfortunately, as you've discovered, Southwest isn't the best when it comes to cancellations / rebooking / IROPS. In your case, a phone or airport agent is the only way you'd get help. Even with all the promised "upgrades" for the new reservation system, being unable to rebook online still happens, and with frustrating frequency. How did things ultimately work out?

Travel funds expire one year from the original date of purchase, and all travel must be completed by then. They cannot be extended. One expired, you may contact Customer Relations and request reissue as a voucher, usable by anyone. The fee for this is $100 per passenger, which is deducted from the funds. You have six months from expiration in which to make the request, and the voucher will be good for six months from the date of issue. These requests are granted on a case-by-case basis, are not guaranteed, and everything (including the amount of the fee) is subject to change at any time.
