It is not irrelevant. How do you expect the airline to verify this medical information? Presumably they would ask for something from a covered entity. HIPAA cleary states that a person has complete control over what information can be disclosed. You can not be compelled by the airline to give consent.

My family of 4 just got rescheduled to a MUCH LATER FLIGHT (12 hours later) because we were traveling with our small dog and there was someone allergic to dogs on our flight. We had called way in advance (back in March) to make her reservation for her in the flight and there was not an issue back then. Why was this other passanger not alerted that there was already a dog on this flight and be asked to schedule a different flight? What can assure her there wasn’t a pet in the previous flight? If there was, she will still be exposed to pet dander… Also we had check in on time and had achieved bording group A32 to A35, now we were placed in boarding group C12 to C15, this will have us seated all separetly… this is very frustrating.

Showing this thread some love here by doing my part. It appears they are targeting customers by area code. I got a call with the same information but for Spokane, WA. My area code is from this city but i haven't lived there in years. So somewhere they are pulling numbers and checking area codes. The number I was called from was also (480) 931-3046. I've gotten calls from Hilton Honors before, and everyone is US based for promotions, and there is always some money you gotta put in. Don't buy it, total scam. Good Luck yall!

"only sell earlybird for the A boarding position.
There is no way to do that because there is no way to know how many A-Listers will grab A spots until 36 hours before the flight. You could have A50-A60 available and then 10 A Listers buy tickets and grab them.
EBCI only guarantees 2 things:
1) you don't need to worry about checking in at t-24 hours
2) You will get a better boarding position than everyone that checks in manually.
That's it.

Just wanted to chime in here that the “remove the middle name” solution worked for me on a current trip. When we initially checked in for the outbound segment of our trip my wife got her PreCheck but I did not. The gate agent wasn’t able to get the issue resolved.
I opened a chat with TSA and they very quickly got back to me and indicated that my name was being incorrectly submitted for validation — what got submitted to them was “<first_name> <middle_name> <middle_name>”, and this clearly doesn’t work.
While traveling I called SWA and the rep instantly noted that my middle name needed to be removed from the ticket, that fixed the issue and my passes were issued with PreCheck status (it unfortunately didn’t help as my origin was international and MCO doesn’t have pre-check for connecting flights, but the tickets seemed valid).
Shout out to Brent at SWA for so quickly recognizing the issue.
This clearly seems like a bug in the reservation system and needs to be addressed.

If SW won't let me check bags early then leash they could do is have seats besides the floor to sit and wait. We had a pile 9f bags and equipment from camp that we didn't want to further haul around so we sat on the floor waiting to get our bag tags BC you should arrive at the airport early (or like us got done with camp & arrived at the airport early) but don't expect help early. I think its a bad policy. Thank goodness we weren't stuck waiting in ATL like security lines. The baggage lady was rude too.

We see people gaming most any system put in place. This is just one such example. I have been in line with a veteran of war that could easily legitimately qualify for pre board but he would not have it. He was pretty outraged at the people he saw clearly gaming the policy. This was going on with emotional support dogs as well. To the people that do this, shame on you.

Yeah, I flew with 3 family members and flight was delay and they transferred us to new flight and of course we lost our early bird boarding position The day after ( today ) other 3 of my party all got notification from SW that they are being sent $100 for their inconvenience. NOT me. So I call and got major run around. They told ME to apply for a consideration.. NOT FAIR SW. ARBITRARY AND CAPRICIOUS. Is it my age or race? Steven

It used to be easy to print a boarding pass from the phone but Southwest has made it much harder to find. Here what to do:
Do or redo check-in
Tap check standard bags
On the next screen, scroll down and look carefully. In small print it says “view full site.” Tap that.
On the full site, check in again. You should get the screen that asks if you want to print your boarding pass.
It used to be you could go directly to the full site to get a printable boarding pass, but now, trying to go to the full site automatically flips you back to the mobile site, from which you cannot print a boarding pass. Using the method above, you stay on the full site and can print the boarding pass from your phone. I did it from an iPhone, but it probably works from any phone.

Quick little revival, conclusion and final hail mary of a proposal
First - last flight I was on with SWA I was able to get certain wireguard-based connections to work- BARELY, just unusable unless the flight is empty. IPTV boggs down the GEO-SAT based internet SWA switched to slowly around 2016.
Given how much BETTER other airlines wifi is (i.e. using ground station 5G based comms instead of GEO (I believe SWA is now all GEO-based comms specifically provided by Viasat).
Before all this mess started happening, SWA was using a similar system that providers like American Airlines uses (4/5G direct to ground receivers eliminating the huge GEO (geostationary earth orbit satellite) latency. Before SWA offered free TV, speeds were great (given the era and the medium), it would die over bodies of water and as much direct testing I could and experienced when SWA started flying to Puerto Vallarta - a route taken by AA usually only, I was able to compare and contrast for a while, AA would cut out just as SWA would as we got into Mexico from DFW if AA and sadly only via connecting flight if SWA (boy I would love if LUV got an international terminal, I will do everything in my power to avoid layovers, which is why I say limited testing).
Then, SWA switch from Business to ‘free TV’ which is when this all started happening. Basically, I figure what happened is ViaSAT sold SWA on a contract of some sort and it wrecked business users so they could advertise free live junk TV without needing DISH.
SWA started having connectivity over Mexico but still very poor
AA still doesn’t, but it’s gotten a lot better as 4/5G get’s deployed in Mexico (heck, I get 5G in Puerto vallarta with speeds around 200Mbps / 10Mbps up which is huge compared to just 4 years ago - note ON LAND via mobile not via the airplane’s wifi).
To this day I will happily pay AA wifi because I can actually use VPN with RDP reliably. As long as we’re flying over land in the US. Mexico has gotten better so much so that I will buy it now when going down to PVR. (I still hate DFW though, not as bad as connecting in Houston, though).
AA doesn’t have free TV (from what I can recall). I may be mistaken, I think I recall seeing Dish being a provider for a bit. Separate systems.
So SWA being the cost-cutters they are, were likely sold a great deal with ViaCrap who I assume basically told SWA they could provide both wifi and ‘dish-style’ TV without the extra cost and hardware/maintenance of managing 2 systems.
What they DIDN’T say was that it would completely bog down the bandwidth because IPTV isn’t the same thing as Dish. SWA may or may not have known the ramifications of this ‘cost saving’ measure, I will assume someone knew but they thought who cares about wifi when you have MOVIES AND TV FOR FREE (marketing department).
I hope ViaCrap contract ends with SWA soon, I’ve honestly been travelling less on SWA just because they used to be tech-focused (was one of the first airlines to provide decent wifi from what I recall as most orginally started with SAT and very expensive at that. But internet connectivity on a 2-5 hour flight is critical. If I want to watch a movie, I will preload it from Plex.
People are going to get sick of the 7 channels on SWA and the sub-dial-up speeds. And as a manner to ‘keep kids quiet’, In my opinion, I think kids these days would prefer the internet over archaic-style cable tv.
Which brings me to my final proposal:
SWA, you would change the game for business, wait, everyone, flying SWA if you signed on with Starlink. My team has been installing Starlink for multi-home/business backhauls in very rural areas in Texas in which they previously paid $300+ a month for ViaCrap at each location - now through some nifty WISP-ing 1 business class dish backhaul supplies 10x the speeds, 1/20th the latency and shared saving thousands of dollars. Results were far far far better service from the prior mix of ViaSat and HughesNet. StarLink is a game-changer and I believe the airlines that sign on first will benefit best. I dare you, SWA - DO IT!

Second, Southwest tries to upsell EVERYONE to buy the A1-A15 boarding spots - including people that lmight already have A16. There's no conspiracy to give people bad boarding spots so that SW can upsell them.
As I understand it the business is going quite well, definitely no need to do that.
There are too many variables here @PDXMusicman with number of A-List people, EBCI tickets, etc. that even if you were the first one to check in it can vary quite a bit.
You are doing everything that you can and I hope you get good results more often than not with your method.
A B-number may be common on flights with many A-list passengers.

Greetings All:
This page may help if you're shopping around:
https://www.southwest.com/find-best-flight-deals/
If you have flights booked for the summer or beyond, I would recheck pricing, even if the quoted fare is not even close to the lowest threshold of $39. You may still find a better deal.
Example: Back in February, I booked a one way flight for later this summer at regular price for $189 from Texas back to SoCal as it's usually sound advice to book all summer travel plans before the springtime in case prices later surge.
During a prior recent sale, the fare dropped to $160 and I re-priced it via the "Change Flight" module and collected a $29 credit. After the sale, the price went back up to $189. Today under this sale, it was pricing at $120. I re-priced it and I collected an additional $40 in credit. I would not call saving $69-off my airline bill 'bait and switch'.
While this flight is certainly still nowhere near the $39 territory, I believe that SW is in fact having a Wanna Get Away Sale now as advertised through Thu 4/11. If you see a Low Fare Sale, best to check your reservations and re-price if needed...and thank goodness for No Change Fees!
One exception: If you booked a flight during the recent Promotional Companion Pass promo, I would not touch those bookings that as re-pricing those flights would void the Promo CP deal.

These are the current guidelines:
SWA's website indicates:
Any of the items listed below* may be checked in substitution of one piece of the free checked baggage allowance for you at no charge on a one-item-for-one-bag basis. If the item of sporting equipment exceeds 50 pounds in weight, excess weight charges will apply. If the item of sporting equipment exceeds 62 inches in size (outside length plus height plus width), excess size charges will not apply.
*Snow ski equipment.
Snow ski equipment, including skis or snowboards, ski boots, and ski poles are allowed, including one pair of skis or one snowboard, one set of poles, and one pair of ski/snowboard boots packed in a container(s) acceptable to Carrier. When substituting ski equipment for a free bag, we allow up to two bags (containing one set of snow skis, ski poles, and ski boots) to count as one item, even if they are packed and tagged separately. Snow ski equipment packed in a plastic bag will be transported only with a limited release of liability.
