@jwow One reason I think you may be seeing less non stops to where you want to go is because with Chicago being a HUB of Southwest they want to offer non stops to as many different destinations as possible and to do so they would have to cut back on other non stops as there are only so many planes. The best thing to do is send Southwest a message on Twitter and tell them which routes you would like more non stops on or what time frame you think would be a good for a flight from X-Y so they can pass it on to the right team. Hope the future schedules work out better for you! Blake

@zebedancer wrote: If I pay bills with my credit cards, do those count as qualifying purchases/points towards receiving the bonuses and companion pass? Or do they have to be actual merchandise or travel purchases? I'm trying to determine, what exactly "qualifying" means. (I do know that cash advances and the like do NOT count.) Any purchase counts towards companion pass points and earns general rapid reward points. I'm not sure if there is an upper limit per year, but if there is that limit is much more than the amount needed to earn companion pass. You have hit it on the head about qualifying - cash advances, items that are returned, balance transfer, etc. Any"regular" purchase would normally qualify including utility bills, tax bills, shopping, travel, etc.

@zebedancer wrote: Fresno would've saved us a TON of drive time (and tiredness) on our last big family trip. Miami would be nice. (Yes I know FLL isn't that far, but it's a dream list, right?) Fresno would have to show ability to fill a few 737's per day, but it could be considered. MIA is a tough one, American Airlines has that airport locked up in terms of gates. Southwest could probably run operations at both FLL and MIA profitably, but without a major inititive/expansion by the city there won't be gates available.

@zebedancer wrote: I think it was the getaway tool that was retired last year that I'm thinking of, but can someone who has been around a while clarify for me: I thought I had read a post a long time ago about being able to search for low fares by date, rather than destination. I would REALLY like this tool, because sometimes we have a long weekend available that we could fly with points, but no real destination in mind. I'd love to just be able to find the cheapest flight from our home airport to *somewhere* so we could explore. Is anything like this available? (Was it previously on the getaway tool?) Has anyone found a way to do this with the current system? I don't find google searching to be any more convenient for this sort of search (for any airline much less SW). If there's a way to do it there, then please inform. That would be fun. Some of that functionality existed before but with the current route map there isn't the ability to filter by price. With my home base at MDW I know that there are always some likely candidates nearby, but also don't have any way to find a deal for longer trips.

As for the careful wording, something like "Our records indicate that you missed a leg of your flight. We hope that you made it to your desitination safely. Within 24 hours we will need to cancel the remainder of your trip unless we here from you about the status of your travel..." Yeah, that probably opens up a can or two of other worms, but at least it would be a helpful alert that something weird happened. I definitely would be expecting an email if something like this happened, ESPECIALLY if it was a SW employee (or software) who rerouted me or had to adjust my trip on my behalf. We've been really fortunate with SW so far, so I haven't had to experience any changes quite like this to date. I would probably blindly think that if they rerouted me, they adjusted the whole itenerary accordingly to look out for my whole trip. Now, i will make a point to spend the time to go ask, if anything does happen.
