I can tell ya when I blow away their companion requirements every year (up until Covid) I am corporate spending way more than that 5k. Southwest knows exactly how many miles we fly but they base things on points. If American can offer it so can SWA. SWA should have learned especially during Covid they need the business flyers back and we aren't coming back at the moment having to deal with all the BS. If they offered me triple points based upon my travel and spending history then that's something to think about but not worth it as it is. SWA and every counter and gate agent I have talked to traveling this past year admits SWA screwed up when they marketed cheap airfare for the non loyalists to fly instead of going after their loyal paying base. One recent counter agent told me she has noticed so many brand new flyers and flyers jumping from Spirit and Frontier (make your own conclusions there)

good idea in sending it in but I usually do once a month anyways. Extra tier I am referring to above companion pass or something seperate for business travelers. If you reach companion you have already qualified and gotten A-list and preferred status and perks. The different or extra tier for business travelers is we do it flying, know the drills, aren;t flying just because of a cheap wanna getaway fare and usually help the FA and GA fairly often.

I wish they did track this for some sort of lifetime A list or preferred status. I keep flying American because once I hit a million miles I at least get lifetime gold status. I am not going to travel as much when i retire (at least not corporatewise) so all lifetime status I can achieve before then to extend my perks I am used to is my focus.

wrong....... “Companion Pass Qualifying Points are earned from your revenue flights booked through Southwest Airlines, your points earned by making purchases with a Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards Credit Card, and your base points earned from Rapid Rewards partners.” The Companion Pass page on Southwest’s website provides some examples of partner activity that will count toward qualification, including: Rapid Rewards credit cards, including sign-up bonuses Shopping and dining partners, including Rapid Rewards dining Home and lifestyle partners

SWA.......... As a loyal and consistent RR member some feedback from someone that earns companion pass each year through loyal flying and not credit cards. You should have an extra tier or some different perks for those of us that are loyal on the business side and earn through flying and not credit card points (unless credit cards are that much more lucrative and then it would be nice to know it so we can adjust). There should also be some type of grace status offered. Even though I earn companion pass each year what happens the year I break a hip or something happens where I can't travel for a few months and it jeapordizes my status for the next year. Some of the other airlines will actually match your status if something like that happens a few times during your lifetime membership. You should also offer some type of lifetime bonus carrot out there. Even though I earn companion pass each year you only get half my business because I switch and add to my other status on other airlines as once I hit a million miles on those airlines I can get Gold or whatever status they have for life and don't have to worry about status issues when I retire etc..... Anyone else thoughts?

Interesting this thread is still going but still applicable. I have the same issue as well. Southwest should also inform their gate people on how the numbering system works with the SWA algorithm and status. It is annoying that if I am A- List preferred with companion pass earning (all through flying and not through credit cards) and fly my companion and/or my kids I have to forfeit my position and board with their lower number, and I pay for early bird check in too. So instead of the gate agents letting my companion or kids board with me as A1, A2 or A16 I board with their early bird check in which is usually A30-50. Sure I could just go on and save seats but I help my wife and kids board, luggage etc. I have had them try to board with me only to have agents deny them time after time. If the gate agents were smart they should realize that most of the time that someone draws the A1, 2 or A16/17 etc we pull those because we have the highest SWA status of those checked in at the time............ loyalty should matter more

I can ntell ya from at least my experience (I fly to earn companion pass every year). It has gotten out of control but the FAs have always made sure they have to remain in the first rows and that is it. I don't ever sit in the front as I am usually A1, 2 or A16 and grab an exit anyways. Have also never seen the seat saving for preboards as a big deal. Of course flights to Florida are always worse, one flight to Ft Lauderdale we had close to 60 preboards.
