Similar problem that you have J ,only a little more expensive. Group of ten people 9 of which are over the age of 70 an one who is in the sixties. Two seniors have problems and with the warnings about the virus do not want to endanger themselves and others. The remaining eight have decided not to go. We do not have the perks of a individual purchase,yet after paying a sum of $3163.oo, the virus came. SW is standing firm on their policy. We are just asking for a voucher we can use after the crisis,if we are still able to travel. I strongly feel this is a case of discrimination,because only individual purchase tickets are getting the extra extensions.

Even tough SW is extending flight dates they are not doing anything for Group travel. I understand the policy for group travel,however in our group of 10 ,9 are over 70 and have concerns. Our original flight cost was $316. per person., that same flight today on the days we scheduled fly is 198 round trip. As a group we do not get a lower fare or a voucher credit for the reduction in cost. I understand this part of the policy also. We still want to go in the future and are not looking for a refund just a voucher,even going at the cost we paid for the flight. I am not a travel agent,this was my first time attempting a group trip in my retirement community. I must say it has been a learning and costly experience for all of us involved.. I am also a RR member but my RR points will not be used for future flights. I have a flight booked in June which I will cancel and fly another airline.at whatever the cost. I think during this world crisis,group purchases should be given the same perks as a individual purchase. I have vented and still feel a group purchase is pretty close to a type of discrimination. Look for the group purchase post by a group of young people in a band and because of the crisis or in the same boat. They did a fund raiser to go on this trip. This will stay in there minds as adults and more then likely never fly SW . Saltmanone

I have tried to get thru to reservations and keep getting put on hold. All I want to do at this point is cancel a group reservation.Is there a way to cancel by e-mail or some other way? Unable to cancel on SW .com because of group purchase

Feel very sorry for your problem with SW. I have a on going problem with them also. It seems to me if I understand your position correctly that it would be the responsibilty of SW to return your bag. The Middle Seat seems to disagree which is nor unusual for a rising star

Let me restate my discriminating claim. Whether a senior citizen or a young child ,I think my groups purchase or the children's group purchase is entitled to the same offers given a individual senior or a younger person. Our money has the same value as their money.

I assume your purchase was a group one. I agree with you ,one hundred percent.. I have kind of the same situation. Although we are not kids. We are senior citizens and purchased as group. I feel we are being discriminated against due to our age. Please see my blog under travel policies. Saltmanone

It seems to be that replies at this site are handled by a person know as the middle seat and a person with the name jesssica. I am new to the site and before my current situation have liked flying Southwest, Not only just because of price The 2 bags free perk, the ability to cancel and have funds to use for up to a year from date of purchase are all great perks. However only seeing basically the above two names that answer replies ,it is not truly a community forum. I am known as saltmanone and ask that you look at my complaint under travel policies. The middle seat has been the only one to reply and seems to favor Southwest. .

I have checked and what you state is true . It is my opinion that the money was paid like any other customer and thus the same options for individuals should apply to group purchases as well. When one is given a a discount because of a bulk purchase ,options for a single purchase apply. I just feel Southwest is discriminating.

I to have basically the same problem. Booked a group of ten people of which 9 are over the age of 70. Because I got a group rate,I would not be able to cancel this reservation and use the funds for another time during the year time period. The group of us all think this is a form of discrimination. What difference does it make as long as we use it at sometime in the future? I and other members of the group fly Southwest and have cancel before and used flights within one year of fly date. I think because we are senior citizens Southwest thinks we do not have to be treated like other customers.
