I don't know about who was or was not polled but I just had a long and miserable experience on a different carrier (six legs, round trip) and they were all uniformly awful. Delta uses a numbered zone system that has ZERO to do with where you're sitting on the plane and everything to do with how much you paid for your seat. Translation: It takes forever to board. On my first leg, I thought that was awful but deplaning should go much faster. nope. I didn't compare times on and off any of the legs but the one leg I did time, was unacceptably long.
Agreed, the scammers of the open boarding system deserve a special place in travel hell. Still, I'd rather err on the side of trusting those who need accommodations can get actually get accommodations which may not be as easy as on the carriers with zones (even with pre-boarding).

This is a sobering thought that Bob Jordan and whomever else is in charge of such a significant policy change would put such weight on the complaints of the occasional SW customer instead of keeping their loyal customers satisfied. Though I'm no longer an A-lister, I still only fly SW domestically for so many reasons - unless they don't have my destination available (alaska). What's next - baggage fees?
And I second your comment about seat size. My ex-spouse is a person of some size and fit reasonably comfortably in the seats.

When I first heard the horrifying news that SW will get rid of open seating, I had a response similar to yours. No more Southwest for me. And then I flew to Alaska on another carrier last week. The boarding AND deplaning processes were nightmarish. I flew six legs on Delta (another misery) and the one leg that I timed the deplaning clocked in at 20 minutes.
I am not happy.
This is just one more nail in the coffin of pleasant air experiences.
thanks for posting.

If the vaccinated can still get it, that means the vaccines isn't effective. «
Please, NO! These vaccines and boosters are protective (effective) because they lessen the severity of illness should one be infected by COVID. Many who are vaccinated and COVID positive report milder, non-life threatening symptoms. As well, the vaccinated are less likely to be hospitalized.
