Sunny,
As I read your letter, and the notes it inspired from everyone, employees past and present, customers and clients, I am gladdened and flatly, just so impressed. Taken individually, let alone cumulatively, the impression that anyone has to take away is one of such a positive, spirited, and smart company. It seems the very real attitude that exists is such that it is encouraged to be yourself, even playful and joyous, while sincere. The company is such a clear leader in so many areas, industry wide. It is no surprise to me. The perception is "We have fun, but, we get the work done" here. What could be better?
It is extraordinary to see the culture of service is not only the "
World Class Service to our Customers", as Colleen writes, but perhaps even more important is the "World Class Service to each other". Outside of the possibility of being kissed by Herb, I am very excited about joining the ranks of such a group. Really, Sunny, does he have to kiss everyone? (Just Kidding Herb. Plant one on me anytime. If you can take it, so can I. Hopefully we both will have just shaved.)
Tomorrow, I receive my packet for training. I am a member of the 225th FA Infantry coming to boot camp. So, I am not hired yet. What I am is humbled, eager, inspired, and impressed because of blogs like yours. Now, for the matters at hand. Study, learn and graduate with my fellow 225'rs.
I cannot help to think of the investment the company makes in each of us, especially the trainees, coming to Dallas from literally, all over the world for a month of hands on, very intensive work and training. The room, the board, transportation, the instructors time, just the all out effort. Thank you for investing in me SWA. I will work so I can join the ranks of the "Nutty LUV Bunch" and repay my sponsorship to the company.
Thank you for your letter Sunny, reinforcing my decision to join this great team of real people, and again, thanks to all of you at SWA for extending me the opportunity. Now, let's have some "Fun, and Get'r Done, together".

From these comments, I didn't realize just how much FA's appreciated the help serving, especially on those shorter flights. As much as I will be eventually commuting to and from base, I'm glad to know. l'll help. Our flying guests are potentially a great source of energy, charging my batteries. I LUV the team concept at SWA. Success is most gratifying as a group. I learned at a young age on sports teams, leadership is the art of promoting others ahead of yourself, and not having it noticed. See you at 35,000 feet.

James, Thank you for the run down. You shared a great "day in the life". It is just about what I had hope for, and expected. I am really pumped up just now. Like Gary, I have been a super loyal SWA customer for years, enjoying the great attitudes of the people wearing those SWA Uniforms. Now, I get to start training the end of this month in Dallas. So, no doubt you know why I am so pumped. I am flat excited to start studying, learning and training. Also eager to gain clearance and access to SWALife and learn the intricacies there, as I will commute to work as well. SWA is the best. I am fortunate to be a trainee. I want to meet, learn, contribute and appreciate my co-workers. Learning how my days will fit together has helped. You guys are great; the team I want to join. Thank you again, James. Steve S. SLC

Thank you Matt, for sharing your experience. We all appreciate your insight. I feel privileged to be selected to attend training, and do not want to do anything to squander the opportunity. There are so many who want the chance to join SWA. (Best wishes and best of luck to you, Leah J. Keep trying. I agree with you, this is a great and fun company, and I have always had my deep desires of being a part of the team.) Matt, I understand the importance of being prepared for and during training. The business of achieving our goals is a priority. I am confident in my ability to work, focus and produce, and I have desire to do it. But I am not over-confident, since mistakes can be costly. I shall be as ready as I can be. I am hopeful and determined. "Barbie Boot Camp" sounds humorous, albeit serious fun with a point. I understand, at least I think I do anyway, finding those who are one with the Southwest spirit at heart. It seems that the old axiom is true: Attitude is Altitude, and Altitude is Prospective. In our case, Attitude can bring altitude quite literally. Lol. I am studying the airport codes now, and wonder if there is a source for me to get the PA's in advance of my packet. I would appreciate having the study materials well in advance of training. Training will be a pleasant challenge, but a challenge no less. It is one I am determined to successfully complete. I am anxious, excited, and grateful. You guys are all so great. I can't wait to be "winged." Lol. Kindest regards, ........ Steve S. Jill,
Hehehe .... Two fishermen were fishing a river from the bank. Wanting to cross to fish the other bank, they looked up and saw a Blonde on the far side of the river. One man hollered across, "How do we get to the other side?"
To which she replied, "You're on the other side!"

I'm also a new-be, a FA wann'a-be, a training invitee very soon. I am actually so looking forward to Dallas in August. (I know, that's Nuts!) Nuts enough to Luv working for the best company around, let alone in this great industry. The 100/100 not withstanding, I'm excited to earn and learn, gain the first hand knowledge to bid lines that make sense, commute with Grace (even if she doesn't want to go), gain enough representative experience to know that the even numbered rooms in Tampa have the tranquil view, and, oh, to be a Slam-Clicker. Is it true? Do I really long for that day? Yep, fraid' I do.
Knowing it will be real work, some serious long days with tired puppies all around, still being the guy with the captive audience and a microphone, where I am encouraged to be ... well, be myself. I am going to have fun, working with you, promoting our company, and finding out what is behind those odd numbered room doors in Tampa as well. If you have the time to share insider knowledge and stories about your new-be FA experience and tricks, we'd love to hear more. Can't wait to join you at 35,000 feet. StakesAlive325
