I was planning on flying Southwest to see my mother for mothers day but your price was over $100 more than several other airlines so I'm flying on someone else. I'm also looking at 6 more flights before the end of the year and Southwest isn't even close to being the least expensive on any of them (one flight is $438 on Southwest and Airtran is $140.) I don't mind paying $10 or $20 more to fly Southwest over some of the other airlines but $300 more is crazy. If you want people to fly Southwest, please offer competitive pricing.

MSP > FLL route would be nice! Or some other connection city beides Chicago. Looking at your route map, St. Louis would be a perfect short-haul flight as it serves most Florida cities and they get alot less snow than both Denver and Chicago. Like the previous poster said, Chicago's weather is horrible in the winter and delays flights for hours or sometimes days. Adding St. Louis would give some more flexibility for times leaving MSP. I hope you can add another city before the Thanksgiving travel rush!

How do you know which planes have it and does Blackberry work with it?
Also, is there a fee to use it?

Bill,
It was bad enough that MSP to PBI is 2 stops and only one flight per day. Now you are discontinuing service before you even start flying to MSP. I know FLL is an hour away but I prefer the smaller airport of PBI. What the heck?
Published scheduled service between Minneapolis/St. Paul - MSP and West Palm Beach - PBI will be discontinued on 05/09/2009
Any chance on adding one or two more destinations from MSP as Northwest slowly pulls out?

Brad,
SWA announced late last year, they are going to serve New York’s LaGuardia sometime this summer. They also start Minneapolis this March.
Gary said there will be another airport announcement sometime this year. My guess is either Miami, Washington National, or Charlotte.
Nice to see Southwest expand

Hey Bill, you probably should have mentioned that Orlando is a good alternative airport since it is about an hour drive to Tampa. Orlando also has plenty of hotels as well which will probably cost less than the Tampa area.
Also, any chance that Southwest will expand at Palm Beach? SWA only goes to about half of the cities it serves in one stop or less.

It would be nice to expansion at PBI also. I live in Minneapolis and only have one choice to fly to PBI (2 stops and 10 hours later) as well as only 2 flight choices to come back.
The other option is to add MSP > Tampa or MSP > BWI which would help.
I know FLL is an hour away but PBI to my parents house is 10 minutes so I perfer that airport.

I agree with expanding at MSP even if it is short haul flights like going to Denver (for people to and from the west coast) and St Louis (for people going to and from the South)
There is no redundency if Chicago is closed which happens in the winter since they are right next to the lakes.

Hey Bill,
Southwest Cities does not have MSP on it and it doesn't show up in the Interactive Route Map on southwest.com.
I was just at the Mall of America meeting Southwest just had this morning and have some pictures if you want them.

Hey Brian,
I know this is off topic but is the schedule to and from Minneapolis going to be released on November 6 when the schedule comes out?
We are really looking forward to Southwest coming here.
Thanks

The media in Minneapolis is saying Southwest will be at the Humphrey terminal with two gates but only flying to Chicago. This is unlike Southwest to do this (and costly.) Are you going to be flying to more cities? It would be nice to see Denver or Las Vegas to handle west cost traffic. As well as St. Louis or Nashville for people going to the Southeast and Florida.

Thank you Bill!
I read that the MAC was in Dallas a few weeks ago talking to Southwest. I just moved to Minneapolis from Baltimore and miss Southwest Airlines.
Have you announced which cities you will be flying to yet? I would love to see a Florida city or two.
Minneapolis has already rolled out the welcome mat on Star Tribunes website with lots of comments. http://www.startribune.com/business/30039604.html?elr=KArksLckD8EQDUoaEyqyP4O:DW3ckUiD3aPc:_Yyc:aULPQL7PQLanchO7DiUX

Howard,
You probably won't see SWA at DCA for a while. Count how many gates are empty. NONE!
That airport is small compared to BWI and IAD plus with the airplane retrictions, you won't see any new airlines moving in soon unless something happens with the Delta/NWA merger.
I prefer DCA over IAD and BWI because Metro goes there and I can leave my car at home but sometimes I catch the B30 Metrobus to BWI from Greenbelt Metro on longer trips.
You can get the B30 schedule here if it helps http://www.wmata.com/timetables/view.cfm?line=165

Would be nice to see more flights to more cities from PBI.
PBI really needs a flight to DEN, LAS, MCI, or PHX to get people to/from west coast.
Switching planes twice is a pain in butt and first stop (Tampa) is a 30 minute flight with a one hour layover.
How about adding more cities to the Southwest network too! There are 18 states that Southwest doesn't fly to including to the whole midwest.

Hey DISMAYED
Turn your caps lock off. I completely skipped over your post because I hate it when people type in all caps! It shows that you don't know how to use proper capitalization. It makes sentences difficult to read as it is an uncommon way of typing.

There are five blogs in a row about this issue, please talk about about something else like other cities Southwest is expanding into more cities or they bought new planes or an employee winning some national award or an employee saw someone famous on a flight.
Thank you

I'm glad I'm not the only one who wants to see Southwest Airlines in Minneapolis. It would be even better if they were at the HHH terminal. Never have a wait at security. All Southwest has to do is go to key cities like Chicago, Kansas City, and Denver to start with. This would allow you to fly to 90% of Southwest cities with just one stop or less. You could probably do it with two planes out of MSP.
Sun Country at MSP really isn't a discount airline and Northwest rips off everyone when they get the chance.
Please Southwest, listen to what your customer want.

My guess is most people don't travel with more than two checked bags anyways since Southwest doesn't fly Internationally. I just went on a 7 day cruise and had one checked bag and a carry-on. I do want to complain about the 50lb. limit though. The 29" bag had just clothes in it and was 63lbs. so I had to pay the fee for being overweight. Southwest and other airlines really need to reconsider the weight limit on this. It wouldn't be so bad if they said one checked bag weight limit is 75lbs. and two checked bags, weight limit for both bags combined was 100lbs.
