Congratulations on five great years of blogging! I have been following it for a while, and read this blog basically every day! I have loved the variety of posts available on this blog, from items such as things that please us airline geeks (especially Flashback Fridays), to fun interesting reads every now and then! I especially love the new design of the blog from a few years ago, especially seing the flickr photos, and easy access to the most recent youtube video. I have loved reading all of the interesting posts on the blog (and even given the chance to do a guest post about DECA last year, that was really special, and thank you for giving me the opportunity) I look forward to reading more interesting posts over the next few years! ... I don't work for the airlines (yet!), but I have had some aviation Christmases. In 2nd grade I flew on a DL737-200 Christmas Day, and my family was the only one on the plane. And usually every Christmas I end up getting something aviation related...if that counts :) I usually get items such as luggage tags, wings, and one year I got a fork. Of course, it was an Airline branded fork, cause otherwise I would've been a pretty upset kid. I also wanted to say that I enjoy reading your Flashback Friday posts! (any chance of flashback Monday-Thursdays too?) From the pictures I have seen of the new terminal, it looks fantastic! I can't wait to fly into it whenever I need to go to the bay area! Even though the new terminal looks amazing, a part of me will always miss Terminal C! ... View more

Great post! I am totally jealous of the person who the room in the 2nd picture belongs to! And where do I get a mailbox like the 3rd picture? My blood is already "canyon blue", and I'm not even a WN employee! (I'm still in high school!) My room is completely filled with SWA posters, model airplanes and books! ....but not anywhere near as much as the 2nd picture! (which I am still jealous of!) But I think that it is really cool that employees at WN have a great amount of company pride and spirit to go above and beyond showing how much they LUV & are dedicated to their place of employment! Awesome video! It was really neat and amazing to hear all of the stories from the employees, especially the one about the woman who was getting a surgery! I LUV Southwest because of your amazing employees, and they are the reason I keep coming back to you guys! I have a ton of really fun stories I could tell about Southwest employees going above and beyond their job description to help make someone's day! Great blog post, and thank you for all of the work that you do! I have taken two trips on Southwest, and I LUVed it!!! The flight crew is ultimately the biggest factor in a customers' in-flight experience, and every Southwest flight I have been on has been AMAZING! All of my flight crews have demonstrated the 3 WN attitudes well, and the awesome flight crews are why I will take Southwest EVERY time I need to travel!! this is awesome! we did something like this at my school a few weeks ago, we used grocery carts and decorated them, and then we displayed them, and people gave money to the cart they liked the best, and whoevers' cart made the most money got to decide which charity the money went to. great first blog post! i started high school for the first time about 3 weeks ago! I used to feel the same way about watching the olympics too, i remember when i was in like 2nd grade and it came on, i was really mad... i wanted to watch my tv shows too! lol, but as an aviation geek the advantage that came out of the 2002 olympics was DLs "soaring spirit" colors! but i was too young to appriciate it! 2008 marketing olympics! that sounds like fun! 😄 idk of any other company that does things like that! more companies should start doing that! :D, when i get a job, i hope my company does that! lol, i wonder how my manager will react when I ask him that question though...lol good luck, i hope u win! You are really lucky to have worked with Colleen! and Stuart, that is a really amazing story! I really wish I could have met/contacted Colleen! Colleen has been one of the major reasons on why I want to go into the airline industry when I get older (i'm about to be a freshman in high school now...) I have contacted all of the major airline executives, and I have contacted everyone except my top 3 people, Colleen, Herb, and Richard Branson.... I have gotten autographs from Richard Anderson, Bill Diffenderffer, and Fred Ried, but I really want to get an autograph from/contact Ms. Barrett, because she has inspired me! would anyone know how I could contact her? I am 14, and I contact airline executives, I have gotten an autograph from Richard Anderson (DL), Fred Ried (AA,DL,VX) and Bill Diffenderffer (SX), and I have always wanted to meet Colleen and Herb! Collen has been one of the reasons on why I want to go into the airline industry! I have listened to a couple of her speeches and I luv her!
