thanks NicoleAshley but the solution I am looking for is to allow my companion to board with me. I think in my discussions with many other Companion Pass holders that is what is universally wanted.

In May of 2017, I started this thread. Since that time I have remained an A LIst Preferred flyer and continued to have a companion pass (now almost 10 years). I understand the "no policy" on saving seats and have been usually successful on doing so for my wife/companion. I think in the last 100 or so flights I have been A 16 all but 2 times. So I am writing again because of my experience this week on a flight. I had a flight attendent who wanted to argue about saving a seat. She was adamant that I was wrong on the policy and that if someone wanted my "saved" seat (my wife was B 13) she would require me to give it up. She tried to get me to remove my wives coat (that I carried on) from the seat. I just ignored her and my wife showed up without incident. I know that last year Southwest had a trial in Denver allowing the companion to board with the paying passenger. I heard it went well. But no changes again. Each time I fly, I talk with other companion pass holders and with the flight attendents. ALL WOULD LIKE TO SEE A SOLUTION. Please Southwest. Many solutions have been offered. You had a successful trial. Let's solve this once and for all.

They do monitor these carefully. If you will look back in the forum posts you will see several responses from Southwest. That being said, I encourage ALL companion pass holders to contact Southwest directly. I have. They do have a solution that is simple and can be done easily. It worked in Denver trials. They just need a push to implement it. Southwest, I know you read these and are reviewing. What can we do it pursuade you to allow companions to board with their AList companion?

It seems since Southwest is NOT doing anything, we appear to be letting this issue die. Each time I fly with my wife (my companion), i discuss this issue wiht the flight attendents. They all wish Southwest would do something as well. There have been many solutions offered. The trial run in Denver (as I understand it) was successful. PLEASE HELP YOUR BEST CUSTOMERS. Any update?

I know that we may be expecting too much but this is still a continuing issue for many of us frequent flyers. I know that there is "discussion" going on but the solutions seem pretty simple. I have seen suggestions that would both help Southwest and solve the problem. I know that I am willing to pay a small fee each time to have my companion be able to board with me. An annual fee would also be fine. So any new news on this issue?

I struggle with the "honesty" in pre-boarding when there is no reason.

I have not heard. I am hoping that they adopt it. Anyone at Southwest that can give us a heads up?

OK Southwest.... there you have it. If it is a money issue, charge us a fee to get our companion to have the same number or a similar number boarding. Although this defeats the purpose somewhat, if the fee is nominal ($10) like the early bird, then I think we would all live with it. I have spoken to over 20 companion pass holders and many of your great cabin stewards about this issue. ALL AGREE THAT IT WOULD BE GREAT TO HAVE A SIMPLE SOLUTION. Every one that was a companion pass holder had similar issues and complaints. The Cabin Stewards would love to not have to be in the middle of a "saving seat" issue. If this forum is to really hear and help resolve issues (even minor issues like this), then let's see if this reasonable solution cannot be implemented. I still love Southwest. I am still hoping that there is a solution that we can get.

Here I sit on a flight with less than 70 people. I was A 16. Wife / companion A 50. Saved her a seat. Had a man try to bully me about saving my wife a seat. Flight attendant tried to smoothly point out that he could have his own row.... finally left taking large window seat with lots of leg room. He was complaining just to complain about but this is exactly what the problem is. How about some help Southwest??? There are simple solutions for us loyal customers who are both A preferred and have companions.

We have done that as well. It really depends on the gate agent. I would say about half the time, they do not allow it.

That would work as well. Is anyone at Southwest listening? I know it is a small problem but one with an easy solution. And it is a problem for your most loyal customers. I think we would be happy with any solution that works.

While I agree that it has an appearance problem, what difference does it make to you at A17 if A16 has thier companion with them. They were going to save a seat anyway, so it doesn't really impact you differently. There are so few companions on each flight (probably not more than 1 or 2) that I don't think giving them the same number boarding is really problematic. And it would stop some of the the "seat saving" that is a problem.

I have had a companion pass for the last 10 years or so. It is a great benefit for those of us who fly a lot. My wife travels with me often as my companion. My "first world" problem is that because I am an A-List Preferred, I am always A16 or so. Since she is a companion, even if we book early, or do the early bird checkin, she is often a late B. It would seem to be beneficial to allow a companion to be loaded with the companion. Even if the system had to do a A-20 and an A-20 companion. I always save her a seat, and generally it is not a problem. But it has been on occasion. So Southwest....what do you think?
