The price hikes are no doubt related to the MAX 8 groundings. It has hurt Southwest significantly since they used more MAX 8s than any other airline. --Jessica

There really is next to no differences in many other carriers now in price. Especially when you can get rid of the hassle of having to bookend to another location around your international flight. And I'm not speaking of any flight the=at requires any overnight stay involved. In my case, I can book a very early morning flight to Orange County then a flight two hours later to Puerto Vallarta, and the same in the reverse. Both sets of flights, each occuring on a one day for each direction. There is no explainable reason why we should have to book two separate itinaries for a flight to an international location when your talking the same day and the same airline.

Hopefully you have PreCheck. Unless something changed recently, PreCheck is not available on international itineraries on Southwest. It's a different system

Pretty much no chance at all. I could see Southwest flying to Hawaii, maybe. Japan? Almost certainly never.

Southwest has a shorter booking window than just about any other airline; it's part of how they do business. They always post the prospective date for new booking windows. Usually they start selling seats through about New Years in mid-May. I think the booking window for January-February usually opens August-ish? Somebody else probably remembers...
