I try to fly Southwest exclusively and here is why. Ten years ago I got a rapid rewards credit card for my business and another one for personal use. The points added up quickly and I earned a companion pass by spending $100,000 per year. By the way I put every expense on this card including paying taxes. I have earned a companion pass every year since. My husband and I have taken over 50 flights, together for free! How? Because SW generously allowed me to combine business and personal spending into one Rapid Rewards account. Also, as we continued to earn points we paid for one flight with points then got the companion ticket free. We've never been shut out of the flights we wanted, we've always been compensated for crew or equipment related delays and I love the boarding/open seating policy because it's fast and democratic. I wanted to post a positive here among the whining. I love Southwest.
