I love the idea. I just got to use inflight Wifi called GoGO on American from a flight to Orlando. It was I generally only fly Southwest or American but sometimes choose American if its a long flight becasue they have power outlets at every asle in the DC9 and 757 aircraft. However its hard to passup the friendly and efficent service on Southwest. So I am all for inflight Wifi and power at ever asle! Go get them!

well, I'm pretty sure that Southwest would drive AROUND their grandmother to get a plane off the ground on time... (or leave her sat down in the lounge with a bagel, at least!)

I second the motion to add Savannah GA as a SWA city. I think it would be very successful.

After hearing that San Jose to Denver was being added this month, I figured that Sacramento
has earned non-stop service to/from Denver. It was good to see with today's announcement that Sacramento is being rewarded with 2 non-stops flights to/from Denver beginning August 4th.

John, I was looking for some information about that 707 that lost an engine and part of its wing in 1965. I remember it well and the pilot was Captain Kimes, who lived a few blocks from a friend of mine in Danville, CA. I found an article in Time Magazine but your photos are the only ones I have been able to find. Do you have any more photos of this 707 (flight 843)?
Thanks,
Dave

The new Southwest ad with the couple at the bank drive thru is hilarious, I couldn't stop laughing as it remind me of something my husband would do! Our family have been big fans of Southwest, waiting for direct flights into Savannah from BWI!
Well Done,

The article is fine if you want Herb's opinion on the economy. Here is what I want to know...How does Herb feel about the "NEW" Southwest? How does he feel about no longer being a good deal in the airline business? How does he feel about a $300 "free drink" and a $300 "A" status guaranteed? Last I checked, I was an A every time I flew anyway and because I had been loyal to SW, they gave me free drink tickets.
I am booking flights today, and for the first time in several years, I am likely choosing Frontier and others due to price. PRICE!? My flights are $300 or $800 (plus a drink and an A seat!) on SW. I remeber Herb giving pints in the 1970's to beat the competition...I guess we've lost that LUVIN' Feelin!

Bravo for taking care of our service men and women!
Now take are of all your loyal customers and ASSIGN SEATS!!!!
I agree it was time to do away wiht the old system, but the new one that replaced it is worse and less than fair
It is time to do away with the new unfair system and ASSIGN SEATS!!!

The person who thought of making familes with small children wait to board should retire.
I flew on SW so much for business that I have a companion card. This year is the last time I'll qualify for that.
Now waiting for some poor mom travling solo with kid(s) to find seat, put up her bag etc is stupid and annoying and has proved just too frustrating to deal with.
Let them grab their seat and then let the rest of us board. Sheesh how out of touch are you guys.
PS- How's the merger with United going? Oh whats that? Their not in charge of customer diservice. Could've fooled us.
Good-bye SW hello any other airline without this stupid policy

Good God ~ can our society think of anything else to complain about?
Just a piece of advice to all the people out there that have nothing better to complain about these days, everyone on the plane will get from point "A" to point "B" at the same time. Each and every seat is leather and comfortable, the same 3 friendly flight attendants will be serving you, whether you're in row 1 or row 24, window, middle or aisle.
Let's be honest, when getting on the road to drive from here to there, do you get to choose what lane you will travel in at all times? The speed you will be able to travel and what vehicles you will travel behind and/or in front of?? Which traffic lights will be green when you approach them rather than red? NO, you just go with the flow and take it as it comes, sooner or later you get to where you want to be.
So please, sit back and relax and enjoy the great Southwest hospitality and the free ammenities that most other airlines are now charging for.

I agree with Jeff. When I lived in Chicago, I flew SW all the time. We moved to Kenosha, WI (between Chicago & Milwaukee), so now I fly United for direct flights anywhere. It's still an hour drive for me to ORD, but 35 min to MKE. I would love to have SW in MKE.

We (two seniors) travelled from San Jose to San Diego on Nov. 18th. We were going to spend thanksgiving wih our family. Our flight was on time, our flight was smooth as silk, our landing was perfect and our baggage (including my husbands precious golf bag) was handled efficiently. Our return journey on the 26th Nov. was also perfect in every way. So, lets hear it for South West, Hip, Hip, Hooray!! A great job all around.

Yesterday, November 11, was officially Veterans Day, but many of you are celebrating the day today. We have several moving posts below that recognize our Veterans, and we hope that you join in the spirit of this important celebration.
We still want to hear your comments on Southwest Airlines' new boarding procedures, but we ask you to honor the nature of Veterans Day by refraining from adding boarding comments to these posts. If you want to share your thoughts on boarding, please go here or here.

The new Freedom Award scheme is a travesty. Southwest has finally done what I thought they would never do. Now it takes 2X as many credits to get a flight from Austin to Reno in 45 days? You feel just like Continental Airlines. I used to love you, but now it feels like a bad hangover. I'll still have to fly you from time to time, but only because I have to, not because I want to.

Hello everyone! My name is Donna and I am scheduled to start my training sometime in the first quarter. Needless to say I am very excited to become a FA, as I live in a small town where the only jobs are in factories, and a career like FA is a dream come true!
I have a quick question for any FA veteren. Being in the small town we are in, we will have to relocate. We being my husband and 3 children. Since I got the news that I was in the "pool", my husband has been eagerly searching the internet looking for a nice place for us to relocate to. He thinks he found what we are looking for, in Tulsa OK. It seems like a nice town with plenty of positions for his trade, and lots of things for the kids to enjoy. So my question is this, if we were to relocate to a non-hub city like Tulsa, how would that work for me as a FA for SW? I'm guessing that I would have to leave a day before my scheduler would call to travel to my hub, and stay over night at a crash pad. Am I correct in assuming this?
Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone for thier time, and I'm looking forward to meeting all of you!
Thanks a bunch,
Donna

Yes, Kim. You are right on that! 🙂 I agree with you 1,971%!

Thought for the day: Why do we use the word "jam" when we're, say, stuck in traffic, & not the word "jelly" or "butter?" *Sighs. I just don't know!* Maybe it's because we're stuck.
P.S. If there's anyone who can think of a nickname for me, please let me know! 🙂

"We schedule the people that make up your Crew!"
"For ontime departures, we do it for you!"
"What's that, someone sick? Well that's alright. We hope they feel better, we can cover that flight!"
"If there's a no show, no need to worry! Reserves have beepers, we can call them in a hurry!"

I have been flying from Florida to Philadelphia almost every month
in the past year and have been very satisfied with the service on
Southwest. I do not understand, however, why you do not permit
small pets in underseat carriers. I was trying to earn free flights, but
now, I can no longer use your airline as I have a toy poodle that has
to travel with me when I plan to stay a few weeks.

Hello all, I am not sure where to post this. Just joined. With Skybus flaming out and Delta cutting back big at CMH (Columbus), is there any hope that Southwest may pick up the pieces? I think flights to FLL, RSW and MCI would do quite well. MCI has about 90 PPDEW plus those wanting to connect to SEA, PDX, etc. RSW doesn't seem to be a very big op for WN, so that may be unlikely. I could even envision MSY working. And what about DEN??? It seems CMH is on the outside looking in there. IND gets 2 flights and now have 4 carriers flying IND-CMH! We have UN, and the prices aren't pretty. Come on, Southwest, CMH is there for the taking. We're begging you. You can even kick CO out of the A concourse and have it to yourselves! :)
If someone knows a better spot for this post, let me know.

Wow, Roy! That's amazing! 🙂 You're doing something I could never do. My parents & I LUV New England!
(I messed up on one of my TV lines I have memorized. I should have said, "Well what'd you do that for Arnold?" instead of Kev).
"Greeted with a smile and we give them the facts!"
"Serve 'em drinks and pass out the snacks."
"We show 'em what's safe and what to do if it's bumpy!"
"Have pillows and blankets to help 'em get comfy!"
"After we arrive, we leave them with a smile, come back for more fun Southwest style!"
"Yow! Fun, fun, fun!"
(I have the entire Just Plane Shuffle video, which I have at home, memorized!)
